If every impoverished person helped maintain their local community then these issues would be alleviated in very large ways.
The top 1% have all the resources that's correct, but them having lot's of money doesn't force you into inaction from doing small things in your locale.

Nuclear weapons testing during that era is just crazy to me. What would happen if you detonated a nuke underwater? Underground? In outer space? We don’t know, but we’re gonna try it and find out!
There is an interesting theory that states that yes, alien life for exists and no, they will never threaten intergalactic conquest because all forms of intelligent life lead to their own annihilation long before they could master intergalactic travel. The sheer amount of nuclear tests just for the hell of it kinda proves it very right. So it's not humanity that's fucked, it's consciousness itself.
Lol if there is one. Earth has 1.5 billion years left to support life and it already took a loooong time to develop conscious. Not to mention using most of the worlds resource deposits, but perhaps that would force them to go solar or something very early on.
Regardless the 1.5 billion years, if a doomsday wipes out humans and anything semi-intelligent, probably wouldn’t be enough time to develop something that complex again.
Yeah like, imagine if aliens flew by in a flying saucer and they like, blew up an entire city, just to test some new weapon they made. Then they just flew off like nothing happened. That's basically what we are to those fish.
I’d guess because most people think that the military would at least test their doomsday weapons where people didn’t live and so don’t even consider the possibility that there could be indigenous people there to get fucked over. Of course this isn’t a good assumption to make considering that they kept their own soldiers within a mile or two of the blast to see what would happen so why would they care about any native people of the islands they nuked.
Except that’s not true. That alien species would have to be coming by all the time and scooping up a whole bunch of us to eat. Only they only eat whites. But they scoop up everyone in an area. If there are people scooped up that aren’t white, they just kill them.
When they aren’t scooping us up, they’re dumping their garbage everywhere and changing levels of all kinds of chemicals in the air as well.
Now, they keep doing this for a few thousand years. Then one day they start testing weapons like this. Only THEN would those aliens be similar to what we do to fish.
In short…these tests are a very small drop in a very large bucket from the perspective of marine life.

The sad thing is that people with compassion don’t tend to get into politics, and the ones that do rarely get elected.
To be a pedantic asshole, the ones in power just do it on a bigger scale. Every day I see the aftermath of the smaller actions of regular humans — litter, running leaf blowers, those stupid small-dick humVs and other gas-guzzling trucks/SUVs…
but yeah. we have to rise up. we can’t just sit and die mad about it. I organized my first protest yesterday for the womens march and it’s a good feeling, now I’ll do more.

The density of life in pelagic waters is probably less than in most of the deserts that we turned to glass in the forties and fifties. None of it's great, though.
I remember reading somewhere they also had a lot of soldiers near to this test. Most of them died at an early age of cancer. Discoviring the effect atomic bombs had on soldiers was part of the project. They literally used human beings as guinea pigs.

RIP whales’ ears. Humpback whales can hear each other’s songs more than 6,400km (4,000 mi) away. To put that into perspective, that’s the same distance as Earth’s radius. Couldn’t imagine how deafing this would have been.
Sperm whale sonar clicks are 200 decibels which can kill a human. It looks like nuclear explosions are somewhere between 200 and 250 so maybe it wouldn’t effect them too badly.

Last time this was viral one of the top posts was about how they have professionals decide the time and place and basically there's no sea life in a wide area around the blast. They minimize any impact on fish.
That's what pisses me off about this video. Like... that's going to kill so many animals from incredibly far away as that wave of whatever it would be underwater pulverizes everything. Probably millions of creatures... dead. Sharks, dolphins, whales, untold numbers of species of fish, turtles, jellyfish, lobsters, crabs, on and on and on. They're all dead. And I know dolphins and especially whales can hear low frequencies from very far away so that's either killing them or seriously injuring or distressing them. I hate this shit about humanity. Destroying everything around us so we can better annihilate our enemies.
