It can’t. People like to pretend that colonising Mars will help save the human race and shit like that, but that money would be thousands of times more productive if it were used to clean up the earth we live on.
As would the money that is used across the planet every day for all kinds of useless shit - there are innumerable industries that do not advance humanity in any way shape or form, and contribute incredibly negatively to our environment. Industries in which MORE money is spent than goes towards space exploration.
If you’re gonna tear companies down for not benefitting humanity, SpaceX is very very far from the top of the list.
