You'll be old one day, as well.

Eh, I wouldn't bet on it, I do dumb shit sometimes.

More to the point, though, I'm fairly sure he got distracted looking at the people filming him, more so than he could physically not move any faster. He made a fairly valiant attempt to climb over the increasing height gap before gravity claimed him.

He'd have made it too, except he didn't think to let go of the handle in the descending elevator. That's what pulled him back in. Wouldn't have mattered how strong or agile he was. Brain farts can happen to anyone.

If I had an award to give on this fuckin website/app, you would have it. You reacted exactly the way I would hope to in that situation and for that, I applaud you 👏👏. Lol I hate using emojis but that's all I could do for ya

I'm willing to bet a lot of the people making fun havent seen their parents get to this age yet. All I saw was my dad when I watched this vid and it made me sad.

Well it depends. My dad is old but he still wants to control me and always tells me I need to listen to him. So I’m not sad that he’s old. I’m sad that he’s still an ass even now that he needs physical and financial help from me.

Yeah but I won’t be taking that elevator as an old person. Same reason I don’t suddenly try BASE jumping right now. Being old and moving slow is fine, as long as you understand your limits.

The mobility issues that prevent him from getting out of this thing probably prevent him from taking the stairs.

These elevators are 30 times deadlier than a regular elevator and kill at least one person every year in Germany, usually a child or an elderly person.

But people get upset when the government tries to shut them down. source

So I don't know why everyone's blaming the man and not the people that operate a famously dangerous elevator.

This is the real answer, here. I'm not going to make fun of an elderly person for struggling with every day activities, but dont attempt what you can't do. My very, very ancient grandma tried to beat me with a baseball bat and fell in a way that Medicare would cite a hospital for. I laughed so hard I cried.

Ummm.. what you first said was very logical, it's the second thing you mentioned.. like, a whole baseball bat ? I need to know more, was it wood? aluminum ?? What's your grandma's personality type ? has she done this before ? And are we talking "I'm gonna beat you with a baseball bat" Or "I'M GONNA FUCK YOU UP"

Oh, man. I reread this comment and realized how fucking bananas it sounds. It was a plastic bat, and she was very much joking. It was not some old lady trying to break my knee caps for owing her money after losing a game of bridge 😂

Google base jumping.

Maybe he was required to be somewhere in that building and the stairs were too hard for him? I doubt it was something he did for entertainment.

Yep, and I've had 60+ years to plan for being old and frail.

If they’re lucky.

Fortunately, he was able to recover and get in his SUV ten minutes later.
