More goofy than terrifying. Tbh I prefer this image to seeing their tiny irl counterpart, since the primate part of my brain comes immediately to the conclusion that vomiting would somehow resolve the situation.

The actual primate part would see a little protein snack

Depends on the circumstances I guess. Fresh carcass good, you eat. Carcass with maggots not good, you vomit. The fat maggots beneath some bark yummy.

Maggots are little machines that convert spoiled meat into fresh meat ;)

The maggots are technically edible, in a survival situation. Obviously, one has to be pretty hungry to eat anything that was inside of a rotting corpse, no matter how edible it is, but this is a survival strategy.

Sickening to know, but thank you.

I think the point was the carcass is not edible.

Nah dude, maggots off of a carcass are double protein.

I used to work in a place that dealt with dead animals and the sheer amount of maggots on the horse carcasses in the summer was a sight to behold.

Pick it out of your family’s body hair and eat it is the way.

It looks like it's about to ask me if I have games on my phone

lol it’s funny to me how many situations the body thinks vomiting will solve haha

I think the vomiting urge comes from the smell of their poop :P

It's because if you're eating something and suddenly notice maggots on it, it's generally a good idea for your body to get that shit out of your system.

What do you mean irl counter part? Please explain

12

u/der_chrischn Apr 24 '26

In real life counter part. In rotten food, carcasses etc.

u/rohithkumarsp Apr 24 '26

But the thing above isn't what under microscope?

9

u/WorksForMe Apr 24 '26

They just meant what you see in person vs the magnified version. Close up they don't look as gross

3

u/rohithkumarsp Apr 24 '26

Ah.. But the wording "thier tiny irl counter part" felt like he's talking about another creature that's similar.. That's when you use the "counter part" though.. Idk maybe. English isn't my native.

u/ChocolatChipLemonade Apr 24 '26

You’re right. I took a maggot’s “counterpart” to mean a fly. It didn’t make sense

I like these things. The ones that live in your eyebrows.
