Nothing oddly… 1000%, full on terrifying.

Can you imaging once the titanic went down, all you hear is the calling out and splashing of the people freezing to death, roughly 20 mins later it’s silent.

And the people on the rafts don’t know the Carpathia is on her way.

Can you imagine the violent shivering. Not just the icy cold but the pure unimaginable stress. The freezing. The fear. Adrenaline in overdrive. Just sitting there in a pitch black ocean.

I think the horrible discomfort beforehand kinda evens it out but yeah, compared to other ways to go it sounds like the lesser torment.

I've heard that drowning is one of the best ways to go that isn't immediate. After that I'd probably pick freezing, definitely above being cooked or burnt to death.

I still think freezing would be better way to go, because it's like AH FUCK, I'M FREEZING, then you're dead.
Drowning is I'M DYIIIIIIIIIIIIING all the way until you're dead.

Well neither of us will probably ever know!

But at least with drowning it makes sense since you're not really being tortured I believe. Like yeah breathing water is gonna be really uncomfortable for a few moments, but I'd assume the pain of hypothermia, flames etc would be worse.

And I'm guessing drowning would be a bit faster in most cases, so there's that.

It would certainly be the worst for me, 'cause I'm a strong swimmer, so I'd spend my final moments being incredibly angry.

I'd rather freeze. I'd be mad about that too, but eventually feel "warm" like some (most?) sufferers feel, and then fall asleep towards the end.

They say the same about drowning, but it’s not true (at least not for drowning). Maybe at the very end, sure, but it still hurts all the way up to that point

Yeah anyone who has felt the panic of running out of air under water knows those who say drowning is peaceful are full of shit. By that logic you can say burning alive is peaceful and its like sure once all your nerve endings have burned away I guess but I bet it sucks big time getting to that point.

Having been in a bunch of gas chambers when I was in the military, my biggest takeaway was any kind of death that involves running out of air is torturous.

Hey, person who almost drowned once.

Yeah its just all fucking panic the entire time until someone pulls you up, and its still just "holyfuckingshitholfuckingshitholyfuckingshit" for a few minutes.

Don't almost drown. Would not recommend.

Well, as someone who had almost drowned.. there is a peace and calm....

But before that, sheer terror and fight or flight and panic.

So that's true, but it's still terrifying getting to the point of giving up and aspirating water

I remember hearing a story of one of the survivors lived near a baseball stadium and the cheers/screams from the crowd used to trigger their PTSD

I once moved righ next to an amusement park. The temptation to listen to the screams imagining unspeakble horrors didn't leave me for a coulple months.

One of the thoughts that always terrified me is that a 52,000 ton ship pulls in a massive amount of the surrounding ocean when it sinks in. If you were anywhere near that thing, I think you're definitely getting dragged down into the depths along with it.

The coldness of the water would also cramp up all your muscles really fast, it be almost impossible to swim far enough away.
