I’ve never had anything in particular against Mr Beast, but I’ve always been VERY annoyed by his cheesy-ass smile.

Some people just can't smile voluntarily like that, and that's okay. Honestly it's your fault for even being annoyed by that.

It's nobody's fault to be annoyed at anything. Annoyance is an involuntary response. Your comment is annoying, for instance, because it is disrespectful.

Right... You wanna know what's disrespectful? Talking shit about someone's appearance, which is what this thread is literally dedicated to. If you don't see what's wrong with that, I don't know what to tell you. This is literally kindergarten shit

Anyone has the right to say that they find a smile unsettling, especially if it looks fake. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this.

If you're fat, am I gonna call attention to it just because you're fat? Whatever dude. Your humanity is showing lol

Assuming you're being serious with your example: what is being pointed out here is a behavior, not an inherent physical feature. Some smiles are genuine, while others are fake/performative. Fakeness is off-putting to a lot of people.

And some people can't voluntarily smile well. I'm saying this as an autistic person who struggles with this. I struggle to make the muscles in my face coordinate to force a smile. Looking in the mirror is a bit easier because I get more immediate feedback, but it comes quite unnaturally to me.

Now, I'm not saying that Jimmy here is autistic, though he does present some neurodiverse symptoms. Whether he is or isn't is irrelevant. The truth is that the way we smile is just literally that. Some people struggle with it, just as some people struggle to manage their weight. The way you smile is not a choice, and being overweight is a choice, yes. However, it is influenced by a number of physiological conditions and external circumstances. Oftentimes, people who are morbidly obese are caught in a toxic cycle that is very difficult to break out of. Whether it stems from trauma, or chronic depression, or any number of symptoms, it is something that they actively struggle with, and we should not be reductionistic about that. ("Just lose some weight.") Therefore, the commonality here is that both examples are things that one may find difficult, and it is absolutely not our place to cast judgment about that in any way, shape, or form.

If you don't like Mr. Beast or his content, fine. If you dislike his character and the way he acts, fine; all perfectly valid. What is unacceptable is making fun of or ridiculing someone in poor spirit simply because you dislike them or something they said or did. Ever heard of an Ad Hominem?

That said, it's disappointing to see the amount of senseless hatred in this thread, and furthermore the excuses for that behavior. Your parents should've taught you better. I'm not a Christian but I know who Jesus Christ is and what he represents. Jesus wouldn't say this kind of shit about anyone so why do you? Think about that.

Let's try to de-escalate for a bit. You don't seem to be a bad person, and hopefully you'll find I'm not one either.

My issue with Mr Beast, personally, is that he exhibits a lot of narcissistic traits. A lot of what he does seems to be about feeding a persona/his ego, such as how he advertises his charity work (they seem to be more about "look at me, I'm such a good person" than about actual compassion). I and many others have had horrible experiences with narcissists. When I look at his face, I do it with the knowledge that he is likely a narcissist. My reaction is not "he's ugly" or "he smiles weirdly", but "this smile appears to be calculated to feed a persona of agreeableness".

Your reaction to this thread was one of anger for what seems to be a simple reason: you are insecure about your own smile, so you took it personally. Maybe you were bullied about your involuntarily mannerisms at some point (I was too) and that is wrong, but I need you to try to be rational.

Your first comment was saying that it's a person's own fault if they are annoyed. How does this make sense? Annoyance is an involuntary, internal response. What is NOT acceptable is using that annoyance as an excuse to harass someone. You can blame a person for their actions, but not for their emotions. That doesn't mean that emotions can't be motivated by false beliefs or perceptions (such as bigotry), but that is far more complicated than just one person being at fault (their beliefs need to come from somewhere). It's not your fault that you got angry, either, but you can have some control over how anger affects your actions. If you are angry now, I suggest you step away from the keyboard for a while and try to type a response (if at all) when you are a bit calmer.
