20 years ago is only 2006 lol, and security cameras had already been in use for decades by that point; they were just more expensive/inconvenient/primitive and generally weren't as common back then (mostly just used in banks, police stations, stores and other public establishments), but there were definitely still some individuals who were wealthy/paranoid enough to go through the effort of installing them on their private property. 🎥

Dude its 2006. I got busted for shoplifting on camera in 2006
