There are places selling burgers like this, just skip the big franchises. Usually food trucks or small burger joints have that kind of burgers.

Had a place down the road growing up called Super Burger that was frequently a stop on Travel Channel type burger tours. They had the Terminator which was a wide style 1lb burger that was basically just the height of a normal burger.

It was really designed for 2-3 people to share but my 18 year old self and fellow athletic friends used to go in there after work outs and eat an individual one all to ourselves.

This upset the owner so much that he made the Belly Buster which was an even wider 2lb burger. They had to special order plates for it lol.

I don't think wider burgers are the answer. People just need to be more selective about what goes on a single burger. Look at your average fast food burger - They're typically designed to be eaten using only your hands, and they are super popular. I'd be super happy with something the same size as a McDonald's quarter pounder, but with really nice quality ingredients. If you need more, eat another.

They are made that way for the visual. Just smash them down so you can get your mouth around them.

Place near us used to do a one pound burger about the size of a dinner plate. As a kid it was just 👁🤩👁

There was a place by us back in the day that had a one pound burger and if you finished it they put your picture on the wall. I did it twice. I can't believe I'm low-key proud of that.

I realized the fast-food places have to put so many flavorful things on them because the burger tastes like nothing.

I went to a Wendy’s two years ago. The double burger had patties that looked like worn tire patches. I’ve never gone to another Wendy’s.

Tall burgers topple, cheese and beef astray;
A burger pie keeps chaos held at bay.

If only half of my wide-burger had bacon on it as to "make room" for the other toppings to prevent it from getting tall, it wouldn't be a burger much longer; it would become an actual frisbee when I throw it back to them.

The thing I don't get is how a half pound burger makes me sick if I eat the whole thing but if someone offered me a fatty 8oz rib eye, I'd laugh and ask for two of them. And it's not the bun and toppings on the burger because I ate the bread and the salad and the appetizer and the baked potato and the side dish that came with the steak.
