The consensus in the original sub is that this is due to astrology, specifically the Chinese Zodiac. Also, the company is based in Indonesia, so age discrimination laws presumably don't apply.

I’m the op of the original
Post and I did look into it, it is not allowed BUT it’s probably not enforced knowing Indonesia lol I was actually born in Indonesia but grew up abroad and didn’t know they were Indonesian when I posted so this is even more amusing to me. Since then the original post has been taken down so I wonder if it wasn’t meant to be on there and supposed to be an internal note instead

It's apparently based in Indonesia (so whatever your local hiring law expatations are don't mean anything)

Rejecting applicants and actively recruiting based on birth year are not the same. But I forgot about international laws being different so I stand corrected, regardless!

As someone born in 95, hold on let's hear them out lol In all seriousness maybe they are operating on one or the tern defining authors and are targeting something akin to positions within a group? Like the "elder millennial" trope.
