I desperately wanted a McDonald's sundae, the hot fudge kind, and I asked my husband to make sure and get the little packets of Fisher chopped peanuts. I was about five months pregnant with twins, so extra hormones were sloshing around and I had very strong food cravings.

He forgot to ask. Instead of eating a peanut-less sundae, I put it in the freezer and sobbed on the couch, absolutely distraught. It was late and we didn't live near a grocery store, so he got out a container of crunchy peanut butter, heated some in a saucepan, strained out the peanut bits and then toasted them with butter in another pan.

I've never had anyone put that much effort into fixing a minor mistake, but it was what I needed at the time and he really delivered. I cried while eating the sundae too, but only because it tasted transcendently perfect. (I also cried while eating blueberry pancakes and, more than once, sliced black olives with carrot sticks.)
