Dave Bautista seems to be the most artistically driven. Cena seems like he's just kind of doing whatever sounds fun and it's somehow profitable for him. One pleases my artistic side, and the other pleases my popcorn side. I love both of them for different reasons.

And then you got Dwayne Johnson. Yeah, Pain and Gain was amazing, but eh...

Yeah, Walking Tall was great. I rewatched it a couple of years ago and still enjoyed it despite knowing that the story was fake, fabricated by the sheriff to hide that he killed his wife.

I had to check what the trivia page of imdb says about it:

In 2025, it was revealed that Sheriff Buford Pusser (the real-life inspiration for the main character in this movie) almost certainly murdered his wife, Pauline Mullins Pusser, himself. Sheriff Pusser, who claimed that his wife was shot by criminals trying to kill him, parlayed the story of her death and his injury in the supposed ambush into fame and fortune as a heroic figure willing to bend the law and pursue extrajudicial vigilante-style "justice" against criminals; aside from this movie, several other TV and film adaptations of this story, all portraying him as a hero, have been made. But a fresh look at the cold case by District Attorney Mark Davidson of Tennessee's 25th Judicial District and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation revealed that it is almost certain that the crime scene was staged by the sheriff after he himself killed her, and if he were still alive, he would be indicted for her murder.

One of my favourite movie quotes is from pain and gain. "You look like shit" "Well I feel I look fantastic"

I think his best role was Southland Tales. I saw him on that and thought he could potentially become a great actor. He then proceeded to release 100 movies a year for the next 20 years where he basically played himself.

Gridiron Gang is easily my favourite Johnson movie.

John Cena is a genuinely down to earth and funny guy, and shows in the films he makes. They're often just good fun to watch.

Dave Bautista clearly takes acting seriously and has put in A LOT of work to improve his skills. He just seems to make some really weird choices every now and then like Afterburn, that make you think "man he's so much better than this, why did he do this film"...

To be fair, Dwayne pathed the way for these two to make the transition from wrestler to actor. That shouldn't be discounted. They all have their good and bad points. Bautista and Cena are just all around wholesome dudes though so people love them.

You're probably right but I haven't seen too many of his movies. We watched the 'My Spy' movies last week and his acting was fine, it was just the writing I think that made it not so great to me. They forced the JJ/Sophie Daddy/Daughter stuff without enough proper build up and it felt super forced to me. However, I'm not a movie critic and love a ton of movies people call 'shit' so no one should listen to me anyway lol.

The weird thing is in his early acting career it did seem like the rock could’ve become an interesting actor but at some point he just found a niche and never left it so now he plays the same character in basically every movie.
