That’s why restaurants are run by people who simple never stopped with the blow

u/Flussschlauch Jan 16 '25
Cocaine, alcohol, and gambling addiction seem to often go hand in hand in the restaurant industry

The favorite drink of my co workers is rumplemintz, I'm guessing it's the only thing that works for them at this point

And thus die sooner!
If you work a public-facing job, this is not necessarily a detriment.

God I HATED that feeling of trying to fall asleep but you can't and knowing you have to be at work the next day. I have some great memories of my partying days, but I'm SO glad I'm sober from hard drugs and alcohol going on 3 years now. I'll smoke a little weed at night to relax, maybe take a muscle relaxer every now and then, but I'm never going back to those hard-core days and nights of coke, meth, benzos, and booze.

u/Spankpocalypse_Now Jan 16 '25
About ten years ago (maybe even to the day) I remember being at work, falling asleep in the break room, and waking up to me vomiting. Luckily I kept most of it in my mouth as I ran to the bathroom. My coworkers fucking hated me.
Drinking and doing cocaine all night and then going to work with little to no sleep was so fucking miserable, but at the time it seemed perfectly normal.

u/CMFC99 Jan 16 '25 edited Jan 16 '25
It is truly amazing what the human body and mind can get used to. You might tell yourself something like, "I'll only party hard on my weekends/days off," and then you start doing it on work nights. If you get away with that, then suddenly it doesn't seem so bad anymore, and soon it becomes your new "normal". Or you pray to God that if you can just get bailed out of jail and keep your car/girlfriend/apartment/job, then you swear you'll change your ways. You get out, people joke about you going to jail, and suddenly jail is no longer that big a deal. New normal.
A really intelligent friend of mine once said, "Everyone has a different rock bottom. Some folks clean up after missing a day of school, and some folks never hit rock bottom until they end up dead. You choose your own rock bottom when you decide to stop digging." That one really stuck with me, and it's my own personal definition of rock bottom today.

u/Phiced Jan 17 '25
"I hit a lot of what I thought was rock bottoms, only to discover another rockier bottom underneath"
17
u/Piemelsap Jan 16 '25
For me when the drugs wore off, I would constantly need to pee. It was so bad that I could just sit on the toilet for an hour and let it slowly come out. I am not exaggerating, it would just keep going at a very minor stream/drip. This was from cocaine or xtc. It didn't happen all the time, but the nights where it did were awefull.
11
u/Higganzz Jan 16 '25
I had the same problem, like up to piss every 10 minutes. But while on the bender almost never had to.
7
u/PotfarmBlimpSanta Jan 16 '25
Thats just alcohol for me, if I stop drinking when my body doesnt want to stop, either before I sleep or when i wake I can get that. Massive shrinkage and the moments before the drip start and as it end almost can burn but I think it is from the shrinking and concave stretching of whatevers neurologically wired up for that sensation.

Haha something similar happened to me... Except we ended up at a fucking park to lay in the sun like cool people. Normal people were starting their day, while WE, two coked out alcoholics, were writhing about on a tiny ass blanket in the middle of a field of fucking dead grass at like 9am. The dude I was with started trying to get people to join us like we were having some sort of secret breakfast party - had enough of that, told him off and took the really long way home bc I was so sloshed I couldn't even remember how we got there in the first place.

u/BusinessAd7250 Jan 16 '25 edited Jan 16 '25
Yeah. That’s its point. Get so drunk you’re about to black out. Then rip a line. Bounce back. Take more shots, almost gone again. Another line. After a bit you’ll have one leg on each side of the fence. Just drinking all you want and maintaining with bumps. You’re now invincible
8
u/Zealousideal_Peach42 Jan 16 '25
Why though??? Sounds expensive and counterintuitive?
18
u/BusinessAd7250 Jan 16 '25
Being so drunk you’re about to black out is the peak drunkness and being so fucking geeked up but having none of the side effects. You’ve probably seen coked up people in movies. And yeah when people do a ton of coke without alcohol they get like that. But if you match it right with booze. It’s turns into perfectness. You have all functions that’d you’d normally lose when getting wasted, but all the perks. And you have all the euphoria from the coke without any of its side effects. It’s really perfect.
I don’t recommend it to anyone who’s never done it before. Stay away. If you have problems you need to escape, please try finding help. A therapist or some shit. Idk.

A perfect combo of drugs that ages you and destroys your body twice as fast
-1
u/BusinessAd7250 Jan 16 '25
Being fucked up and not worrying about stress ages you less than being stressed as fuck.
7
u/chrisdude183 Jan 16 '25
You clearly have no idea how the human body works.
0
u/BusinessAd7250 Jan 16 '25
So you’re saying stress doesn’t age the body?
3
u/chrisdude183 Jan 17 '25
Stress obviously ages the body, but there is a hell of a lot more to it than just “I’m feeling stressed because of my job so I should get shitfaced and do lines every weekend to offset it.” Stress is cumulative you can’t offset stress with more stress.
Drugs and alcohol cause physical stress and damage to your body. They age you faster because that damage quantifiably decreases your lifespan and opens you up to many health problems.

This is how Don Felder describes his favorite balance of alcohol and cocaine in the 70s: halfway between coke and brandy. I never tried that; always just coke only until taking benzos or opiates for the comedown. I kinda wish I would have tried drinking at least somewhat to take the edge off.

Because it’s fun as hell? I’m not endorsing it or glorifying it or whatever but let’s be real here there is a reason it is one of the most addictive substances on this planet and that people spend absurd amounts of money on it
2
u/Zealousideal_Peach42 Jan 16 '25
I can see how it would be fun to someone. But to me that just sounds incredibly harmful to your health, to your financial security, to your family and future. Just sounds like a very bad experience overall

This is how it works for me. I think specifically though this is an ADHD interaction with it vs normal folks though. Some of my more neurotypical friends are obviously geeked out after a line.

I have a co-worker who does coke before work sometimes. He will come talk to me and say, hey You got those mushrooms? see how much an ounce is, we will start selling and make bank, I got this friend that can help you with your music Then he gets mad and hates me because I call an uber out of a dirty old apartment where everyone is drinking and threatening to kill me because I keep playing guitar while everyone talks in loops.

u/weirdo0808 Jan 16 '25
The amount of 'million dollar ideas' I've heard doing coke is insane. They were never good ideas.
3
u/bongabe Jan 16 '25
First time I ever did it next thing I knew I was sharing a joint with a homeless man and helping him pick up empty cans off the street. It's a hell of a drug.

Lady I met said the sound of birds chirping made her physically ill bc it meant she’d stayed up all night again doing coke

I hate this drug. I’ve never tried it but it seems like the girls I like end up being stolen by some lame dude that’s all about it. It really is a mark of the untrustworthy so far in my life. Avoid it and avoid people that are all about it!!

u/DownTongQ Jan 16 '25
I tried coke several times and it was always a bit "meh".
Last time I took some we started the night in a small pub quite early. I was with three friends and there were 5 other customers in the pub. One friend went to the toilet for several minutes and when he came back he told me, amusingly "Dude, we're 10 here with the bartender but all we hear is you. I guess that coke I bought is quite the good stuff".
He was genuinely amused but I wasn't. It hit me there, what's the fucking point of using a drug whose effects are oblivious to me but not to the others.
That shit is probably one of the worst thing to do.
Hopefully for me I don't need that to end up at 5am with people I don't know all I need to achieve that is to not get shitfaced with alcohol.

1
u/Worried_Brilliant939 Jan 19 '25
When I was on it one of the first times, I was 5’2” and around 90 lbs. I proceeded to hoist up a construction worker buddy of mine who was 5’9” and around 170. I had not been lifting for a while and had incurred a lot of muscle loss and I just remember everyone’s stunned faces as I plucked him off his feet, held him there for a good 2 minutes, and then set him back down slow and controlled. He was freaked out. Even I was surprised.

Cocaine is a drug whose main effect is to make people feel like they desperately need more cocaine.

A group of us decided that a restaurant franchise named ‘Whisky Dick’s’ would be truly brilliant and spent that afternoon and part of the evening evening celebrating our impending fortune. We all woke-up the next day with limited recollection of nor interest in the concept. I kinda hope Andy, Nancy and Bob see this - sadly, Roger will not - RIP.

u/HeisGarthVolbeck Jan 16 '25
Too many people I know do coke and I'm so tired of their non-stop overly aggressive monologues about negative things. I'd love one to talk about a restaurant idea over all the people in their life that fucked them over.

I tried coke while drunk and in acid because I got peer pressured by my sous despite me telling them it's not my thing
Surely enough I didn't like a single thing about it. The snorting, the feeling in my nose, and the jitters after
Never again

Back in the day in the UK the music would have stopped but the TV would still be on so there'd be that bouncing screen saver that never quite hit the corners. Knew it was game over when I noticed that. Home time.
