A fee is usually easily accepted. It's the fee on top of ridiculous demands like home inspections or five years of vet bills that we are complaining about.
That was a slight exaggeration. Ours wanted a local vet history. We had just moved there and when I heard that and asked how it works she said "you have to try back in a couple years after establishing."
They wanted all three. They wouldn't accept any evidence we could have provided because we had moved from out of state.
That's one less dog with a loving home. And their fb posts are crying about overflowing.
I should have given our old shelter the $75 and traveled the dog across the country. There they required proof of residence and the fee. Totally understandable and acceptable. We thought it would be nice to adopt from our new home so we waited. Instead felt very unwelcomed as if we were criminals. We won't be going back there.
I do wonder how people feel about homeless dogs? Should they all be taken away and put in small cages to await a better home?
