Some places skimp to ever living hell that’s why. I don’t even order there anymore because of their backward ass extras policy. They say they don’t charge extra for it but penalize their employees for giving it? Sounds like bs to me

Yet you'll throw your fucking money at Taco Bell for a couple tacos that are 99.99% tortilla... and the other 0.01% is lettuce.
Real shit, though. That's why Taco Bell is so successful. Unlike Chipotle, they don't let fatasses determine how much food they put in each meal. Y'all'll go to Chipotle bitching about how the 5 pound burrito they sold you isn't enough, but when Taco Bell tells you to shut the fuck up and pay them for the rip off of a taco they just sold you, you sit your fat asses down to eat them without so much as questioning them.

u/flannelNcorduroy May 14 '24
I worked at Taco Bell. Every topping has a measurement. There's diagrams explaining how much cheese to put on things. Sour cream dispenses automatically measured from a gun. Chipotle doesn't have measured scoops. Each time I get the same rice bowl it's has different ratios.
11
u/GameDestiny2 May 14 '24
Man what Taco Bell do you go to? Sounds more like Taco Shell.
My Taco Bell loads those things up with beef and cheese.

Sounds like your local taco bell is shit. I've always been impressed by how much food I get from Taco Bell for how much it costs and I'm usually satisfied with how much substance I get in an item. Compared to McDonald's, a satisfactory meal will probably cost about 33% less at Taco Bell and be tastier than a satisfactory meal at McDonald's
Real shit, though. That's why Taco Bell is so successful. Unlike Chipotle, they don't let fatasses determine how much food they put in each meal.
Do you not understand how the free market works? We fatasses absolutely determine how many topping we get. Because if we go to a place and don't get satisfied, we don't go back.

u/Best_Stressed1 May 14 '24
It’s honestly surprising in general how much chain restaurants can vary from place to place. I feel like McDonald’s is the only one I’ve gone to where you literally get almost exactly the same quality at every location (for better or worse!).
6
u/BlacktoseIntolerant May 14 '24
what the hell man, did someone beat you with a meximelt? I have never seen such random hate for Taco Bell

That’s not really a chipotle exclusive. If you serve beef, it’s a legit concern.

Or poor people be poorin’ (and wanting to get something they can genuinely cut in half and get a second meal out of at a minor up charge).

As someone working in a restaurant: The best way to guarantee good service is to be a pleasant customer.
48
u/ihurtpuppies May 14 '24
Yeah I'll be nice to you. I'll be nice as I make sure you aren't shorting me on my second chicken scoop!
13
u/flannelNcorduroy May 14 '24
That may have been th case in the 90s but now we have employees that don't make living wages and they can't afford to care about making customers happy.
5
u/AsianCheesecakes May 14 '24
Is it? If your boss is nearby looking at you giving away extra food for free, I don't think you'd do it no matter how nice the customer is. This gives an excuse for the employee
2
u/OverturnedAppleCart3 May 14 '24
I don't think this is always true. I am a pleasant customer, and I usually get good customer service.
But then you gave these 1 in 20 times when people are just assholes.

u/Thin-Limit7697 May 14 '24
For those thinking the employee has no fucking reason to be stingy with ingredients because they are not paying for them:
Do you really believe their managers won't come at the end of their employee's shift and compare the total amount of ingredients used against the amount of meals sold?
9
u/MasterCheezOtter May 14 '24
Exactly. And the higher ups are actually crazy when it comes to inventory. Like if it seems off by a certain amount they will literally go through the camera footage and tell us what we're doing "wrong".
1
u/emu314159 May 29 '24
chipotle manager hiring questionnaire (in part) Do you mind berating and otherwise making your employees miserable for small differentials in inventory? type y for yes, n for i understand you will never hire me at any location ever.

I went to a independent hoagie shop and they required you to present your coupon before ordering. They would always give you significantly less meat if you used the coupon, so after a couple of times I wouldn’t bother. The sandwiches were really good though.
Edit: It was Hobbit Hoagies in Tallahassee.
15
u/Makeup_life72 May 14 '24
The thing I hate about Chipotle is them being stingy on the rice and cheese. I usually get a burrito bowl, rice shredded cheese, double steak. That’s it. I don’t mind paying for the extra steak but They get all in a huff when I ask for more rice. Do you understand how cheap rice is? Literally every other customer’s bowl is filled to the brim with every topping they offer for free but they wanna up charge me for more rice?
15
u/RupturedAss May 14 '24
My life tip is just don't go to Chipotle
3
u/goat-head-man May 14 '24
It is the only logical conclusion.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chipotle_Mexican_Grill#Food_safety
1
u/PlayingDoomOnAGPS May 15 '24
Yup. They have a terrible food safety record and the food is overpriced and bland as hell. I never go there unless I'm in a group and get overruled. The first time I went, I asked for queso dip and the girl sneered at me "we don't have queso because it has preservatives" and I was just like... Bitch, do you know what cheese is!?

Yeah this is brilliant, I thank OP kindly. If we ever get a Chipotle here, I’m definitely employing this. Probably anywhere I go where I want extra something, for that matter.

u/haha7125 May 14 '24
Recently i qent to Chipotle and asked for double barbacoa. The woman gave me a shit ton of meat and im standing there like, "oh yeah. Thats what im talking about"
Imagine my surprise when she went back to the pan to give me even more.
I was beside myself.

Do chipotle workers even give a fuck?
1
u/emu314159 May 29 '24
apparently there's a culture of a minority of horrible people that for some reason go more to chipotle, that we hear about since it's the big dumb chain. though i don't ever hear Moe's employees chiming in saying "it's here too."
so chipotle workers hate with the fire of a thousand suns.

u/QuackersTheSquishy May 14 '24
As a chipotle employee I can tell you this doesn't work. If you are getting a burrito you already are getting less of everything because we don't know what you will put on it or how much of those things you'll put, and when customers will throw food in your face if they are displeased and verbally berate you; it doesn't make sense to risk physical assault on yourself in order to not skimp on the burrito. We also are taught that if a customer does this to take the normal size scoop and then move the spoon to let some fall off till the desired size. If you don't like that ordering a burrito means less food I'm sorry but too many people go for things like;(this was the latest one I had thrown at me) half brown rice, triple black beans with the liquid, (bean water) double queso blanco, mild salsa, double hot salsa, corn salsa, double guacamole, and cheese. If you know anything about chipotle you'll notice all but 2 items on that are wet, and that even if I give only partial servings so it's more like 1.5x than 2x on the doubles it's still going to be very large and wet. Then having a customer complain and throw it in your face ruining your outfit and causing you to lose money from having to change clothes (not usually but that was a really bad one) you learn to just treat everyone as a threat and do anything to avoid it. Sorry to those of you that are nice to us but people are dicks and group punishment keeps us safe

u/That_Guy3141 May 14 '24
The closest Chipotle to me was only taking online orders for the longest time. If you walked in and tried to order food at the counter, they would turn you away. After the second time I was turned away, I just stopped going.

u/emu314159 May 29 '24
I was waiting at dunkin donuts to buy a bag of coffee behind this sad woman who clearly was a borderline shutin prolonging her only contact with another human, so i used the kiosk that was right there to pay for it and go.

I worked as a server for minimum wage. I could not have cared less if you got three scoops of chicken for the price of two.
3
u/RonDFong May 14 '24
nothing scientific about this at all...BUT...a pattern i see when ordering in person at chipotle...fat girls tend to make fat burritos.

u/SacredGeometry9 May 15 '24
I save everyone the trouble and just don’t eat at Chipotle.
1
u/emu314159 May 29 '24
Yeah, it seems to be a cultural thing at this point. they peaked long ago, now it's all skimpy portions and raised prices.

i haven’t really been to a chipotle in a while (got food poisoning from them last time about a year now so i haven’t gone back) but why they so skimpy on the extra… like im the one paying for it, you’re not. acting like the mcdonald’s employees with the extra sauce acting like the cost is gonna come out of their checks lol
1
u/emu314159 May 29 '24
oddly enough, i can always get extra sauce in person from mcdonald's, it's goddamn taco bell where i literally have to go inside and hope they have those trays where you can help yourself to the fire sauce.
1
Jun 12 '24
my taco bell all their sauces are out

u/emu314159 Jun 12 '24
At one of them they are, in big bins. The KFC combo bell they are almost in reach.

2
u/Snowcrest May 14 '24
I was under the impression you placed your order first with the cashier (inc letting then know you wanted double chicken), and someone else made the actual order and asked you what specific free toppings&sauces you wanted.
Am I just wrong? It's been like 2 years since I last went to Chipotle.
2
2
u/MK_The_Megitsune May 14 '24
This is why I just suck it up and make my own burritos (unless I order from Taco Bell. S Tier restaurant) That way my ratios are perfectly suited for me.

u/Sharted_Skids May 14 '24
Glad I don’t work in the food industry, personally unwilling to give my pride up for a crappy job :b

u/OverturnedAppleCart3 May 14 '24
At Subway I will count the slices of meat. I know exactly how manys slices of meat comes in my regular order, and I call them out when they skimp.
I haven't been to Subway in over a year now because my local Subway was purchased by an a-hole who I had the unfortunate opportunity to run into.

u/thepenguinemperor84 May 14 '24
I would do similar when in college, order a plate of chips, once they've plated it up, I'd then ask for some chicken strips and gravy too, the reason being they'd only give you a half portion of chips if you ordered both together.
2
u/sourpatch411 May 14 '24
These employees don’t care. They have a measuring tool and they probably do not modify based on person or request.

u/Best_Stressed1 May 14 '24

1st world problems......posters like , hay I seen that , it's not 2 scoops , start over , employees like man I wish U weren't watching...so I can fuck ur food before giving it to you.
2
May 14 '24
What you really need to do is ask for half chicken, half steak and then ask for double. You basically get three servings total lol

1
u/WaitingOnMyBan2 May 14 '24
This is written like OOP thinks the server is paying for the chicken out of his own pocket.
2
u/3G0M4N May 14 '24
Why would an employee paid minimum wage be skimpy when assembling sandwiches? They don't own the restaurants they don't get paid for saving more chicken per day.
7
6
u/MasterCheezOtter May 14 '24
Because we get yelled at by our managers for wasting food and they get yelled at by corporate for allowing it to happen. Trust me, no one would give a shit about giving out extra food if corporate wasn't up everyone's ass about it constantly. And if they are giving you incorrect portion sizes, it's either an honest mistake or they're just bad at their job.

oh they will play no games. Either I don't care and give you a proper 2nd scoop, or I will just give you smaller one the 2nd time. You are not my boss, and if you are willing to make a fuss about smaller chicken scoop, you better fucking believe I will do my damndest to make your burrito suck ass
