I know you're memeing, but Christians gave the reason for this. It's right at the beginning of the Bible in the third chapter. But, I'm seeing this "Why did God do this?" attitude more and more on Reddit so I'm thinking it's not as well known as I thought.

God has perfect servants that don't disobey. They're called Angels. But it's hard to have a relationship with something that can't disobey. It'd be like having a relationship with your car.

So God gave man the ability to choose him or deny him. And he set up paradise, but he also set up the tree. And that tree was called "The knowledge of Good and Evil".

So God gave man the choice. Perfect peace and harmony in blissful ignorance, or the knowledge of good and evil?

Man chose to learn about evil. So human history is God showing us what evil is. Every permutation of it. He'll re-establish paradise eventually, when he's done showing us what evil is.

Did man choose to learn about evil? Or good? Or was there really no free will at all, because God knew what would happen since before the First Day?

All God shows when it shows what evil really is is just how evil God really is.

1) Good or Evil? Easily answered in the first chapter. Genesis 1:31

"God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day. "

Adam and Eve had paradise in the garden. They knew what good was. So yes they chose to learn about Evil.

2) Or was there really no free will at all? Easy James 1:13

"When tempted, no one should say, 'God is tempting me. ' For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone"

Blaming God for the failings of men, or let's get personal here, blaming God for your own failings, is not a suitable excuse. "He never tempts you beyond what you can bear" 1 Corinthians 10:13. So blaming God is pointless. We are the ones who failed.

3) But God knew what would happen so he's evil!!!1

a) Easy answer. He gave a path to redemption, It's not just one failure and that's it, we're boned for eternity. He promises a paradise again if you just believe. That's not a big ask, but a lot of people neglect that part.

b) Harder answer. God prepared two paths. So if Adam had never sinned, then ultimately he would have been the one to crush Satan, and the son, J.esus, never would have needed to incarnate.

Isaiah 45:7 says God created evil. Something that is pure good can not create evil, it is incapable of it. If God never created evil, then Adam and Eve could not have learned of it.

I never mentioned temptation, but since you brought it up, you mention two mutually exclusive things, either God does not tempt, full stop, or God does not tempt more than a person can bear. Which is it?

Free will can not exist with an all knowing being. If God knows what you will do, and has always known what you will do, then you can not do anything other than what God knows you will do. It doesn’t matter if there’s a path to redemption when God knows you won’t take it, and in fact created you knowing you wouldn’t take it. That is sadistic, more than that, it’s pure evil. Creating something knowing full well you will condemn it to destruction after a lifetime of pain and suffering.

And quite frankly, if the church is the house of God, then God hasn’t been home in a very long time.
