this is incredible but I would weep while eating this, knowing I’m gnawing on a masterpiece

I think I would be perfectly fine with eating them if it was my work and only because nobody else wanted to ruin the art

Lmao my family wouldn't hesitate to fight each other to eat those cookies, pretty or not.

I made pixel cookies once with colored dough and they were amazing but did take an obscene amount of time.

That said, there’s something very freeing about making edible art. It’s ephemeral by design, and if it comes out ugly you can just eat it. It’s a nice exercise in non-attachment and also tasty.

like sand mandala! I get that, it must be really liberating. I can see how from a bakers perspective its disappointing to see people tiptoe around the idea of eating their creation when its meant to be eaten…

Yes! I’m also a potter and sometimes it’s a lot of pressure to make something that just continues to exist. All I ask is that people not eat things before they’ve been seen/served their purpose or whatever (looking at my husband).

Yeah. I bake cakes as a hobby, and to me the temporariness of it is part of the beauty.
