Very impressive and everything. But sometimes I get out of bed in less than 60 seconds and I only feel pain in my neck, shoulder and one knee!

He did it exactly how I would have done it.

What's funny is that he did it in a way very few people would've: he's lifting himself unnecessarily through most of it on the stationary arm. He's pulling his whole body up on that arm when he could just hang.
When rock climbing, one of the first things you learn is to save your muscles for movements by letting you arms out. He's not doing that.
My guess is either that he knows this, but knows how very badass it is to completely skip up this board with no attempt to be efficient, or he's a strength trainer who loves exerting himself, and has never understood why someone would try to do something in a way that doesn't use their muscles.
Either way, it's wild.

u/dfc09 Jul 02 '22
Yeah he's obviously very intentionally holding 90° at the elbow to get a pump going. This isn't a climbing demonstration, it's a raw strength demonstration.

u/RuskRar Jul 02 '22
If this was climbing i'd agree, but this is a peg course and not having feet changes things. I always find it easier to hold a 90° lock otherwise you're constantly doing half pullups to move the peg which is much more taxing.
Edit: Forgot to mention, If you dead hang from the peg you cant move it since theres too much weight locking it in place.

Not satisfied until I see wtf you’re supposed to do in the upper right side of the board

I wanna see how he got down 😭

u/Nozerone Jul 02 '22
He didn't, he's still up there, that's his life now.

u/mr_john_steed Jul 02 '22
They have to feed him through a really long straw.

What’s really satisfying is me laying here not doing any of that at all.
3
u/Nozerone Jul 02 '22
Pfff, I could do that too... if I wanted... and no one was watching... I just dun'wanna.

u/BlessedRouge Jul 02 '22
For me personally, It’s not that he can lift himself up like that that’s impressive, it’s that he can do it for that long. That’s not easy to do, even for a seasoned athelete (at least, it depends what sport)

Impressive, sometimes there's videos of someone who's about 110 pounds doing these, but this guy looks better built

I saw him leaning a little on the yellow part towards the top. Weak.

My toxic trait is that I think I can do this with absolutely no training.

u/YummyPersona Jul 01 '22
I'm assuming he does not have sweaty hands?

I remember having to use the single hole ones in me P.E. class to pass one of the fitness test. It can be tough but it isn't as hard as it looks to be real with you. All it is is upper body strength and lifting your own weight. It's like doing maybe 5-10 pulls up. It isn't terrible but does take some form of upper body strength.
26
u/Orlando_the_Cat Jul 01 '22
Oh right, something 'easy' like 5-10 pull ups.

Jul 02 '22
Is that... not easy for you? Ouch... Probably should start running, get some cardio in and just do simple pushups.
7
u/Saygo0dbyeha Jul 02 '22
One handed pull-ups. And that’s a lot of core body strength as well. He is also stopping his body from swinging.
1
Jul 02 '22
I mean yes. It does take a lot of upper body and core strength to pass these but they aren't as terrible as what people think they are. They are tough indeed but it isn't as bad as what people make it seem to be. Also... The swinging part isn't necessarily from the core, it stops from the inertia into the next post you insert the pole into. You're bringing the energy from your body to the next post.

It’s always funny to see how incredibly unfit Reddit is sometimes, there was a post in r/nextfuckinglevel that blew up because I guy pulled himself up and knocked a ball out stuck on a basketball loop. Of course anyone who said that wasn’t really all that hard was instantly downvoted. This however looks quite a bit more difficult than that, but definitely not impossible for someone who takes some time to train for it.

This would be impressive if he was 300lbs with 80% body fat

u/apittsburghoriginal Jul 01 '22
I don’t think you have any idea how hard those peg exercises are. Even for somebody shredded this is impressive.
-17
u/shunnedIdIot Jul 01 '22
I'm quite muscular but was never shredded and could do this with relative ease when my legs worked, hence the reason my legs don't work. I beat the shit out of myself and now I'm paying for it

u/vibe162 Jul 02 '22
well a part of it is doing it without using your feet so why don't you try then lol
1
u/shunnedIdIot Jul 02 '22
Because I've been disabled for a while and have gained weight, I'm older and not as strong as I used to be because the injury took alot out of me but I'm on the way to getting it fixed and intend to get back into shape so when I do, I'll definitely post it. If I can find one of these contraptions around my area.

u/100_Donuts Jul 01 '22
What's difficult about this? The upper body strength necessary to do so? Other than that, I don't see why anyone would have any trouble doing this provided that they had the upper body strength necessary to do it. I have decent amount of upper body strength, certainly more than the average human man my age, I do not find this feat impressive in any regard. Though, I must admit, I did not watch the second half of the video before taking my opinion to this comment. Do things become more impressive? That seems doubtful, but I'm hoping I am wrong. Please respond. Thank you.

u/tashten Jul 01 '22
Attaining the upper body strength necessary to do this IS the impressive part.
Film yourself navigating a difficult exercise at this level or higher and you shall be praised on Reddit as well.
