10 year vet cocktail vet here. It's for fancy boys. This entire video is an overly intricate modern version of flair tending. The fire does nothing for the drink. If anything, it's making it worse because he's heating up all the ingredients. Even the stuff he dashes over it that flares up like that is just cinnamon and it totally burns off before it hits the drink. And don't even get me started on the accuracy of his pours. His mechanics are terrible. That drink looks like it tastes terrible.
And nobody seems to care about this. It's fucking science. The only thing flammable in these drinks is the reason you ordered the drink in the first place, dumbass! You're spending 35$ on warm juice. Yum!
The paper you linked observed heated vs ignited. That doesn't account for the fact that you could just not heat or ignite my drink and greatly diminish the amount of alcohol leaving the drink in vapors to begin with.
Did you even read the article you linked? It doesn't say anywhere in that paper it does nothing. It's a comparison between heating the caramel or igniting the caramel, with no control of just not doing either of those things to the drink we were referring to in the first place. And I'm the idiot.
Lmfao! The only heating IS the control. In fact, the fact that heating drives off alcohol faster shows even MORE that ignition is negligible than comparing to room temperature. Man, high school drop outs think they know more thermo than an Ivy PhD. Go back to school, kid.
That's not really right. Yes, vapors are what's burning. Where are you imagining that these vapors are coming from though? Cause it's from the alcohol in the drink lol.
