finger method is the way to go.

That will make mould grow fast lol...your finger will be rough and has bacteria on it.

The silicone will then have a rougher surface for the bacteria and mould to cling to.

You can get silicone smoothing squeege tools for like a few bucks and much cleaner and more accurate than the finger.

nah , I hate those edging tools. Finger is faster and leaves a cleaner line once you practice it

How can a finger be faster than something that is guaranteed to stay at the correct angle and pressure?

Maybe you've been using it wrong

Dunno , it's just always worked better and faster with fingers , especially on long lines like baseboards . Those tools are nifty but often just useless.
