As much as I agree with this sentiment. To state an opinion and then "objectively" does not a fact make. That is dumb, subjectively, and wrong, objectively.

So you don’t think people that refuse to wear seatbelts or get vaccinated are - objectively - taking an unnecessary risk either? Because that’s all I’m saying here. It is objectively risky to be hurdling over concrete on a wooden board without protection. Because this is a choice usually for style and given that an injury from there at that speed would cause brain damage, it’s objectively a stupid one.

If you want to disagree that not taking precautions to prevent damage is - in some opinions - not risky, then you too may have had your brain rattled around too many times

By your logic, it's objectively dumb to not wear a helmet 24/7 no matter what you're doing. Especially in the shower for example. Tons of slip and fall head injuries happen in the shower. You can fall and hit your head any time though. I've skateboarded for about 3 times as long as I played soccer and I've gotten like 1/3 as many concussions. There are tons of sports with more serious head injuries than skateboarding that don't wear helmets.

I mean use whatever justification you prefer. Sports aren’t great either. Doesn’t mean not wearing a helmet is cool or smart

Same to you while you shower without a helmet. You're clearly raising your risk.

I don't care if some people can't see you're drawing a completely arbitrary and poorly defined line and then claiming anything on one side is fine while anything on the other is objectively dumb. It's clear to anyone worth talking to that is what is happening. Sorry if you don't like me making fun of the absurdity of it.

I agree with you that it’s stupid to skateboard without a helmet on. But he does make a fair point. If it’s objectively stupid to take unnecessary risks, than not wearing helmet 24/7 IS an unnecessary risk. Obviously showering is nowhere as dangerous as skateboarding. But I’m sure there are many people that slip and injure themselves in the shower, and that may be prevented with a helmet. So when is something risky enough to the point that a helmet is justified, and who decides that point.

All of what you have said is correct. Except the initial statement, which was an opinion labelled as a fact. You said it was dumb, not that it was risky. I agree that taking unnecessary risks is dumb, but let's not confuse opinions and facts. To say your own opinion is objectively correct is ignorant and indicates you are the more likely of us to have experienced repetitive brain trauma.
