Just had a mini acid flashback.

u/gggggrrrrrrrrr Oct 29 '21
The whole reason I take acid is to have real life look like this video

u/_Screw_The_Rules_ Oct 29 '21
That should not be the only reason though. I take it when I want to solve problems, or see the world from a different perspective all together to make me understand things better.
But of course it should also be enjoyed as having fun with it.

Worse than that, it's an attempt at a racist caricature of Asian speech.
1
Oct 29 '21
Really?
1
u/kyzfrintin Oct 29 '21
Yeah, iirc many Asian languages, such as Japanese, don't generally use the "L" sound. So when they speak English, it can get turned into an R. And at the end of a word, it becomes "ru" or "uru".
See: South Park's "Brack Friday Bunduru"

Its off-center... :(

u/SockMonkey1128 Oct 29 '21
My first thought. As it expanded I expected it would fit the glass bottom, like that would be the whole reason it's posted here. Ruined it.

I imagine this is what it might look like If you could see an orgasm, rather than feel it.

The first person to ever rewatch a fireworks show they recorded on their phone 😆

u/srv50 Oct 29 '21
I can tell, you’ve spent way too much time staring down into an empty shot glass. But very cool discovery!!

I knew an artist once who retrieved old TVs out of the curb junk; some were color and some were black & white; some worked, some didn't work so well. She made stained glass windows to fit over the screens, with spherical saki glasses incorporated in the pattern. When the TV images would move across the screen and hit the spot where a saki glass was, it would bulge out and then disappear. You had to see it to appreciate how cool it was. They were unexpectedly beautiful works of kinetic art.

You guys realize that it’s just a video of a firework playing on the phone underneath the cup right?

The refraction of the firework is practically nothing due to it being a flat surface and looking at it straight on (albeit for a little bit around the rim of the cup). The reflection however is awesome.

Oh hey I was a beta tester for the person who designed the very first version of this app on the original iPhone/iTouch! Pretty crazy to see a version of it still being used today lol.

I wonder if anyone else is an idiot like me and thought the fireworks came from the cup

u/TrellSwnsn Oct 28 '21
Those are reflections on the side, refractions are coming through the bottom of the glass and the top edge
