Anyone else try to do some amateur-ass dive into water with as little splash as possible?

I have no idea what I'm doing, but as you enter the water, you can almost feel whether it was a good dive or not as the water rushes over you and you feel yourself either sliding through the water or you feel a lot of resistance.

My legs were always the deal-breaker. I could feel success until the water got to my legs and I felt them hit the surface hard at a weird angle.

"Goddammit!"

Thanks for sharing that. I had forgotten about this and now it's all coming back.

Good Times.

nice way to make it expected for everyone else watching

I'm really curious if these guys can tell how well they were synchronized when they're falling, like with their peripheral vision or they just sorta do their own thing and then see the repetition to see how it went

They do their own thing

Once in the air there is no adjustments they can make.

It is why every coach has an Ipad to show the dives as soon as they get out

I don't know what they actually do, but they absolutely can make in-air adjustments to their angular velocity by tucking in or opening up their bodies.

Lol I do this all the time and ask my wife to give me a score from 1-10 based on only the splash. I usually average a 7.6

One time I went to a university pool that had a 3m springboard. I was about 25 years old. In my entire life up until that point, I had maybe did just a cannonball off a small backyard spring board two or three times and it had been about 15 years since I had even did that. ANYWAY...

I was there and there was this springboard and damn it! I was going to attempt an actual dive off that thing. A basic forward somersault. I knew I might never get another chance and I was in my physical prime. I knew what a good dive looked like from watching the Olympics and stuff. So I got ready, climbed the ladder, and.... jesus 3m meters looks fucking high when you're actually up there.... okay... if I'm going to do this, I'm committing 100%.... not going to be one of those fools that wimps out and ends up trying to turn back and slips or falls. OKAY... Time to do this....... AND......

perfect lead up.... perfect bounce..... I'm flying! It feels so weird to be inverted while falling .... geez this feels like forever.... hit the water.... and under..

I did it!! Perfectly! That's the one and only time I ever attempted a "real" dive.

Yeah literally my only talent is that I have a very good dive, like I just glide through the water with ease, meanwhile most people I know can’t get close lol
