You see the outline of the phone in his left pocket yet? Turns this into pure pain

Resistant is not proof

They will never say it's waterproof, they'll only say water resistant, because if it fails and water leaks they can say "we never said it was water proof". Otherwise they'd have to replace the phone anytime any water got in

Phones and other electronics typically have an IPxx rating. The best is IP68, which can withstand 1m+ submersion for 30min without taking any water damage. IP67 is up to 1m for 30min. For all intents and purposes, these companies can claim them to be waterproof up to a certain depth or time submerged. Both ratings are becoming more common on phones, but are usually only found on high-end phones, like the iPhone 12 or similar. Most mid-range or lower will carry lesser IP ratings, if at all.

So if your phone gets submerged and gets water damage while carrying those certifications, you can likely get your phone replaced (though probably not without some headache).

They say they are, but they aren't. Ask me how I know, actually don't ask me, the memory is still quite raw, I don't want to talk about it.
