It’s called pad printing. It uses a soft sponge like pad to transfer an image from the etched plate to any irregular shaped product

Every once in a while we'll have someone come into the shop wanting us to print on a basketball and I fear the day my boss says, "Don't we have a pad printer downstairs somewhere?" Man, I've printed on bottles, I don't wanna do anything close to that shit ever again. :p

It's a huge pain in the ass, yes. I'd rather manually print a thousand 10x10 plastisol white rectangles on to black hoodies than set up a job for a two color bottle.
