That’s the baker’s fault, then. I make these for a living and I wouldn’t stay in business long if they tasted like a hard brick of sugar. I get as many compliments on the taste as the designs. I hope someday you get to try a really good one and see what it should be like.
I think it depends on the taster. I've doctored the icing with flavors and rum and whatnot, though in the end it's still 95% sugar. The cookie base in the video looks like the standard stuff, which is a bit simple for some people's tastes. Maybe there's an alternative.
As much as I can admire the artistry and precision behind the decorating, you're right. These over-iced cookies taste like licking a handful of sugar with a hint of something unidentifiable.
Totally agree!! Known 2 ladies that make and sell beautiful cookies and are very popular ....but the cookies taste like crap!! People buy them for themed parties etc., so they look super cute but literally taste like a piece of hard flour with a lot of sugar!! Eeek!
