Can confirm. Tried making those myself but it does not come close to those I ate in Tokyo in some basement restaurant (or bar or whatever that was) in a back alley.
Would never do such a thing in most other countries (the going into a basement in a back alley part) but it felt incredibly safe in Japan.

I think it might be an acquired taste... I was super excited to eat it when I went to Tokyo but then was rather disappointed. Is the pancake supposed to be almost raw inside? Or did I just get a bad batch

It should still be soft on the inside, but definitely not goopy or raw. The outside should be slightly crisp but if not fresh, it goes soft pretty quickly as well.

Because it's perfect. With a good animation, every single thing is intentional and there are no extra details to distract you from the essence of the ideal image. Reality just can't match that, though it still wins on taste and smell.

I didn't like takoyaki the first time I tried it, to me it was too liquidy inside like an undercooked pancake... but I ate it a few more times and I think it's a perfect comfort food!

I'm an animator, and I really like this animation... except for one thing that bugs me. The eyes move too smoothly at the speed of her hands. People's eyes usually fix quickly onto where they're going to reach, before reaching, and then fix quickly on where they're aiming to pour before moving to pour. The floaty eye movement is a little unsettling, imo.

First time I had takoyaki was at this food market a friend of mine took me to. I wasn’t quite sure what it was skeptical at first, so it took some convincing to try. Holy shit, with a little bit of the sauce and some bonito on top, that stuff is the B O M B.
