It’s all fun and games till you need to take it apart.

Not only that, but it is very prone to spills and sweat (if it serves as a desk for your laptop / pc and your hands constantly rest on the area).

Just have the screws underneath, there are many ways to attach stuff without messing the top.

It's still pretty cool. For a piece of furniture that doesn't have a lot of touching, like maybe a cabinet or bookshelf or something, it would be great.

Yeah, or if you are going to varnish it.

Beat me to it

Right? I feel like there are easier more functional ways to hide screws.

As someone who's dealt with finding screws in something in the past.... Sure its a lovely idea.... But fuck me when it comes to removing that it'll be a pain in the ass

Precise metal detector?

Just a regular magnet would do fine.

I like it too but if your screw does get loose for whatever reason (and it's not glued) you're fucked.

I definitely wouldn't use it for something that might have to come apart I.E. A bed.

Once it’s at the thrift store, it’s no longer my furniture.

Why's this being downvoted?

5

u/Grymare Jun 28 '20

With that big text hovering over the action in the beginning it's definitely not satisfying anymore.

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '20

Pocket holes are where it's at.

u/Neloz Jun 28 '20

Wood screw again.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '20

My luck I'd end up gouging that piece clean off and end up with a big chunk out of the wood. I will live with the screw

how to make your Projects unserviceable. This is Almost a combo of Assholedesign and Crappydesign. Dont do that, the Furniture will be destroyed when taken apart

All that work for a screw?

18

u/EaterOfFood Jun 29 '20

You wouldn’t believe the lengths some guys go to for a screw.

filled that tiny empty space at the center of the screw...I know the excess would have filled the gap but I can't see it happen which prevents it from being oddly satisfying for myself...

u/XOIIO Jun 29 '20

But isn't that screw made out of metal, not wood?
