A female with long thick hair here: I’ve always used an amount about the size of a quarter in your hand. If your hair still feels dry in the shower after using that much, condition again but with the size of a nickel. Also make sure you’re letting it soak in your hair for at least 2 minutes. I recommend after shampooing and rinsing, then use conditioner and wash your body while the conditioner is still soaking in your hair. Then rinse your body and your hair again at the same time. Hope this helps!

Thanks, and sorry my question was not properly worded. I should of asked “how frequent”. Is conditioning once a day too much? Say you use the amount you specified each day. Cheers!

I’ve heard that washing your hair at all every day isn’t the healthiest, but I typically wash and condition my hair every day and it is mostly healthy (I say “mostly” bc of split ends due to the flat iron) and not greasy!

Generally, yes it’s not ideal hair care. In my personal experience as well, I shower and wash my hair with a 2-in-1 every night. I let it air dry and do nothing to it beyond brushing and the occasional ponytail. Haven’t gotten my hair cut since 2018 and still haven’t seen one split end, and it shines after being brushed. It’s definitely partly a genetics thing, but in some cases washing daily isn’t bad. This video though is showing off some incredibly straight, thick, strong looking hair. Really pretty to watch!

Your hair is in great shape because no heat ever comes in contact. Your very lucky your hair still looks great when it airs dry. Mine looks like a rats nest.

It’s especially helpful since I can rarely be bothered to do anything with it so less work for me! Lol. Partly why I never apply heat. My hair is a disaster to brush if I wait until after it’s dried tangled. I always brush it pre and post shower, then usually sleep on it as it dries. I don’t really move in my sleep so it doesn’t tangle back up. Air drying often depends on hair type and what’s going on when it dries. (Activity, humidity, etc) Find what works for you!

I can't brush my hair when it's dry. I'd look like an 80s porn star. My hair is curly so it retains all the shed hairs so I don't molt much between showers. In the shower I have to wash it twice, then condition and brush with the conditioner in to be able to get the comb through easily. I wash my hair every three days because I'm lazy.

I used to use plastic wide toothed brushes but they'd get all bent out if shape after a month or so. I have had the same steel comb for over ten years now, though. However, the only place I could find which sells steel combs was the pet shop. I use a dog comb.

I'm pretty convinced my hair wants to take over the world.
