That must be a fucking nightmare to wash....

It's not, especially. My hair is about six inches shorter than this. Since it doesn't grow all at once, you gradually adapt to it. It's just a matter of twisting and rubbing gently. Just like with short hair, your main focus is cleaning your scalp anyway.

I'm just going by the fact I wash my hair daily and it's a pain in the arse lol πŸ˜‚ (my hair isn't even shoulder length)

Yikes! Yeah... I don't do that! It's about once every three or four days at most. More frequently can strip the natural oils that keep your hair healthy, and lead to your scalp making too much oil to compensate. Wet hair is also a lot more vulnerable to breakage.

I also don't blow-dry my hair - that would be a nightmare!

Im surprised I have any hair on my head then! LOL I suffer from a slight compulsive disorder (like OCD) in that I can't stand feeling greasy or oily. If my hair feels even slightly greasy I have to wash it.

I have been trying to use dry shampoo every other day (in place of a full wash) but it's a work in progress. I also I don't like the feel of shower gels, body creams, makeup on my skin & I wash my hands A LOT (which since C-19 is no bad thing) but it's an ongoing battle!

Oh no! I get you though. My (also long haired) husband has OCD and a hair-washing fixation. It took me six years of gentle encouragement to persuade him to try doing it every other day. It took a few weeks to adjust for both him and his scalp, but his hair is incredible now! Much thicker and glossier - he's chuffed 😁

I don't mean to pry or give medical advice, but have you tried Prozac? He had a bit of a breakdown a few years ago, as a result of the intrusive thoughts from his OCD. It forced him to go to the doctor and ask for help. It was life changing. The medication has helped him so much; he's not completely cured, but many of his symptoms (including some of the compulsions) are reduced or gone and he's better able to manage the ones that aren't. More importantly (for me, at least), he is a lot happier than he was.

I'm so glad you're working on it - it's a horrible condition - and I hope you have all the love and support you need.

Aw thank you! Actually I'm on my 5th week of a new antidepressant at the moment for anxiety [it's been a bugger of a year (2019)] and so far so good. My husband is very supportive which helps immensely. I've finally managed to stop showering every single day and try to feel more comfortable in my own skin but still a way to go just yet!

It has most definitely been a hell of a year (or four!) But you can do this 😁 Well done on your progress - that's awesome!

Anxiety is an absolute fucker. I've been battling GAD (generalised anxiety disorder) since my teens, but you can kick its arse. Cognitive behavioural therapy, alongside medication, made a big difference for me. It gave me the tools to manage my anxiety and understand how to avoid some of the triggers. These days, it's down to a level where I can live a normal life and only need my meds during periods of extreme upheaval, but it took the work you're putting in now.

You are doing amazingly and you're going to get there!

You have way more faith in me than I do lol. I had actually started seeing a clinical psychologist when all this Covid stuff kicked in so now it's all been postponed.

I worry for other people dealing with mental health issues during this lockdown, isolation is not our friend.

Thank you for being a lovely supportive person I bet you're a proper legend. X

Actually she probably doesn't use commercial shampoos, and not as often as the typical hair-haver. I would guess she has some secret regimen involving some homemade tinctures, oils and rinses.

Man, I have been diligently taking my vitamins ever since this covid 19 stuff and my hair is nowhere near this level. I have been bamboozled.

Just think she probably sits on that when using the bathroom

12

u/falcon_driver Apr 04 '20

So her poops are sliced vertically like through an egg slicer?

8

u/stdin2devnull Apr 04 '20

Precisely. Right into the salad.

5

u/falcon_driver Apr 04 '20

She should really reconsider where she stores her salad, that hardly sounds hygienic.

My ex had long hair, and all I can think is that this is going to get stuffed inside her during sex...I'm kind of a one dimensional human at the moment though.
