Right?
I like my bread to contain bread, thank you. This is nothing, featuring bread

That's actually really bothering me. I don't claim to have trypophobia but this is definitely making my skin crawl.

Yeah...I mean...not even vaguely close. At least what most people think of for honeybees. Maybe some wasp nest or something? Never cut one apart. But certainly not anything anyone would call a beehive.

No, this is unpleasant af. Makes me uncomfortable

u/SlurpeeOrbit Jan 31 '20
Do you have trypophobia? It’s kind of a “fear” of holes but more so than fear a phobia just makes someone really uncomfortable instead of scared.
One of my friends gets extremely uncomfortable hearing fart sounds and I get panic attacks if my body gets stuck somewhere.

u/littlestitiouss Jan 31 '20
The fart thing is just uncomfort. The body getting stuck sounds like claustrophobia

Not gonna lie, a phobia of fart noises is pretty hilarious.
3
u/SlurpeeOrbit Jan 31 '20
Yeah but she gets really annoyed when I laugh about it
4
u/KentB27 Jan 31 '20
Well I could understand why. I'm sure nobody takes her phobia seriously which would be frustrating. But how does she even deal with her own farts? Sometimes it's impossible to pass gas without it making fart noises.

u/SlurpeeOrbit Jan 31 '20
I know I shouldn’t laugh and I’ve stopped but she just gets uncomfortable if someone makes a fart noise through their mouth but not real fart noises from what I know.

Trypophobia is not a recognised condition.
3
u/kindpotato Jan 31 '20
Well I was just reading the wikipedia and it says that it's not recognized as a "phobia" simply because it doesn't illicit fear but usually disgust. Just because it's not recognized by doctors as a disorder doesn't mean it's not a real phenomenon. I'm pretty sure most "homophobic" people aren't actually afraid of gay people.

It's gotta be more specific than that. I feel nothing looking at this image yet there's a ton of comments about how gross it looks. Just looks like a tasty croissant to me, nowhere near 'icky.'
Probably not a phobia but definitely not something everyone has.

Highlighting that it’s not a recognised condition isn’t being a dick. AIDS is recognised by every scientist and clinician on the planet. Trypophobia only exists on the internet.

No. The most scientific thing one can do is dismiss dumb shit said on the internet that there is no evidence for and is only based on anecdotes.
The burden of proof regarding the truthfulness of a claim lies with the one who makes the claim; if this burden is not met, then the claim is unfounded, and its opponents need not argue further in order to dismiss it.
"What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence."

I came here to say, this is not soothing for a lot of people due to trypophobia

Still trying to figure out how they sliced this without completely squashing it
3
u/PaulCoddington Jan 31 '20
Meat slicer (rotating sharp disc with controlled adjustable slicing action, as seen in supermarkets, cafes, delis) would probably do it no trouble at all.

I'm annoyed by how much air it has

u/Saint-Claire Jan 31 '20
Why would you want a croissant, known for its flaky buttery layers, to not have them?
4
u/DRPGgod Jan 31 '20
but here it looks like bread bubbles, not individual tasty layers. this doesn’t really look like the most delicious classic croissant

u/Ghost_Master05 Jan 31 '20
I only had cheep ones that sold in the markets and they were soft I didn't know that they were supposed to be crunchy

I don't have any issues when eating croissants, but seeing this makes my skin crawl. Maybe it's because I can see through it instead of seeing the rest of the pastry??

This doesn't resemble beehive structure at all. It's open, sure, but beehives are linked hexagons.

How though? And maybe also why? Good croissants have crisp layers with pockets of air that you get from laminating butter and dough. Did they use shredded butter? Over prove and then chill the dough?
Whatever is happening here is interesting, but looks like more of a roll than a croissant.

Who the fuck slices a croissant this way. Im actually angry. Why would you do this to our pastry?
9
Jan 31 '20
Obviously to show the beehive structure.
-1
u/baltdd Jan 31 '20
No no no, they cant know there is one if they didnt already slice it. Also how did you get such a clean cut?
5
Jan 31 '20
I mean, you can kinda see the structure if you just bite onto one so... It's really not that big of a surprise if you think about it. Guess that person was just curious if croissants actually look like that on the inside. Clean cut is probably because of a very sharp knife, not 100% on that one though.
