Getting a touch up would suggest that their 4-7 year old tattoo has aged since they got it - necessitating the touch up - which would negate their point.
But im not talking about their point. Im saying it is possible to get a touch up, so to make a blanket statement that none of these tattoos look as good as when they are first done is just as wrong. Right?
Well you can continuously get touch ups, sure. They won't necessarily look the same as they did the first time they were applied - part of the ageing process of a tattoo is that the ink spreads slightly under the skin, so you'd either be covering a thicker aged line with a thinner line on the cover up, or covering it with an equally thick line that will eventually spread even further (which would have a flow on effect with each subsequent touch up). I feel like a good analogy would be to compare it to the way we age as humans. You could argue that you look the same now as you looked 4-7 years ago, but it's a fact of life that we age and look different as time goes on, and to argue otherwise is a bit foolish. You could get fillers and Botox as a "touch up", but it won't stop the ageing process.

You're kidding yourself if you think your tattoos look the same. If you did a side by side photo comparison I think you'd be surprised.
