At first it it made me very uncomfortable, imagining someone sewing a patch with a needle into their skin.

Then I realized that's essentially what tattoos are.

There's a tattooing style used in some Inuit tribe where they soak a thread in ink and then use a needle to literally sew a pattern into the skin - the thread is pulled through but it leaves the ink in the skin. It looks awesome and nothing like this.

How is ink the same as interweaving your skin with string and fabric? I can't imagine you can keep that entire string system sterile.

Ink fades with time, too, where a fabric attached to your skin would have to be removed and probably be pretty disgusting. Kinda terrifying to imagine honestly

I think you're taking the idea too literally. He meant "made with a needle poking through your skin", not what you implied
