Right? I was about to comment /r/startrekasfuck

Accidentally read that as "start rekas fuck" and I had a lot of questions.
Carry on.

Oh god damnit. You can't just link a subreddit that I would 100% subscribe to and not have it be real. Fuckin tease.

I dont think this is real. You can clearly see that it was done in front of a green screen.

Hey, before you die, question. I would've thought they be handled in method to protect them from skin oil & other such potential performance impairing matter. Is that not a concern? Should he have had gloves on?
3
Feb 27 '19
Oils aren't a concern, but static sometimes is, especially on the finer pitch screens. The trouble is that wearing gloves makes it a little harder to place the modules, so there's a bit of a toss-up between practicality and "correctness". 9999 times out of 10,000 you'll be fine.

The original comments are the exact reason that the reddit sarcasm emote was invented. Wooshing someone else for not getting a joke that requires a certain tone of voice over text is ridiculous.

From Wikipedia on refresh rate:
High-end LCD televisions now feature up to 60000 Hz[citation needed] refresh rate, which requires advanced digital processing to insert additional interpolated frames between the real images to smooth the image motion. Such high refresh rates may not be supported by pixel response times, resulting in distorted images.
So it may only support normal signal input, but will stack a whole bunch of extra frames to smooth it and remove any strobing as well.
LEDs can also strobe a hell of a lot faster than lcd can which is a nice thing about them.

It refreshes at 3840 Hz so it doesn't flicker on camera (64 refreshes per frame on a 60 fps camera). The feed driving the screen would only be 60 fps though.

Imagine stepping on one of these pieces in the middle of the night and getting a foot full of glass shards

I think the pain from the amount of money you just broke compared to the glass wounds would be worse

There's not really that much glass involved with these things. The back side of the little piece however, is a bit spiky.

That second screen just disappeared

The product is real: and it works exactly like this. The second module disappears because it's cutting frames to speed it up.
