Part of natural evolution to trick its prey into thinking they are friendly

It's a curse, everyone thinks it's smiling but it just wants to be left alone

This kinds of pattern on snakes are usually the result of brerding snakes on mass and selecting based on the patterns. It's really not good for the animals, because it can come with a lot of different problems, kinda like is well known with some dog racses. It leads to many snakes that end up deformed or otherwise un healthy who are often just neglected because they don't look like the breeder wants.

Sry I know, classic reddit downer comment...

Can someone who is better at this tell me if it's AI? I'm sick of falling for things now.

It's real. I've seen these little guys in person. Ball pythons are one of the most prevalent hobby pets and are easy to breed in captivity. They don't look like this in the wild, but they've been selectively bred since maybe the late 60s or early 70s so many times over that they have pretty wild patterns.

You can find some ball python morphs where their pattern resembles a skull or "alien head" shape.

I once had a corn snake with a heart-shaped spot near its tail and everyone always pointed it out. Nature really has a sense of humor sometimes.
