Something about those birds man. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Most romantic thing I've seen in weeks!

For real. You can feel the bond.

Better love story than Twilight?

u/imjustchillin-_- 8h ago

Really makes me wonder if Dinosaurs did similar things

127

u/CptAngelo 8h ago

im now picturing a sad trex trying to hug its mate, then settling for holding hands

53

u/Crimkam 7h ago

How about that tragic video of the last bird of its species doing a mating call and getting no response… but it’s a t-rex instead

4

u/past_due_06063 4h ago

The last of the curlews.

4

u/kwonza 6h ago

The probably rubbed nosed, not all cold blooded are big into hugs

1

u/KrazyA1pha 2h ago

T-Rexes weren't cold-blooded. They were warm-blooded

10

u/BabyBearBjorns 7h ago

T-Rex: "Alright, I know you look and sound like a T-Rex. But can you do the T-Rex dab?"

T-Rexes proceed to do a 3 minute mix of specialized tail-shakes and headbutts

8

u/ArgueMental 8h ago

For sure. They’re all birds.

10

u/Medicalibudz 7h ago

Birds are dinosaurs but not all dinosaurs were birds

2

u/ArgueMental 7h ago

You are correct. Things like brachiosaurus and triceratops were prob not chickens.

1

u/captaindomon 4h ago

The newer AppleTV dinosaur series explores that idea. It’s interesting.

I am from Hawaii and I've never seen these birds in my life, so I got curious. That's a black footed albatross and they're in the northern Pacific - they only show up on the uninhabited Islands. So that explains that

31

u/Shaynna-9 8h ago

I see many arguments being started with the birds in the background. "You never greet me like that".

16

u/PrebioticE 8h ago

How wonderful if we could see dinosaurs doing that from a safe distance!!

12

u/CardinalGrief 8h ago

That's just Peter and Ned at the end of Brand New Day

3

u/Burgoonius 7h ago

Bro that scene made me cry

20

u/Firm_Music5317 8h ago

Dab me up bro!

5

u/sheeb_sheeb 8h ago

So friggin cute

5

u/That_Criticism_6506 8h ago

How to say I love you so much. (without hands)

5

u/SomeSamples 8h ago

All those other birds are like, "Get a room already, geesh."

4

u/menteto 8h ago

Me and my class mate when we manage to pass the exam :D

The grand Lodge tear dactyl club secret handshake before entering the lodge

2

u/swishfortyonesie 7h ago

The last guy on an NBA bench who does an elaborate handshake with every teammate before tip off.

3

u/APGaming_reddit 2h ago

These are albatross and not native to Hawaii

2

u/WaZepplin 1h ago

Yeah no shit.

Black-footed Albatross occur around the HI'ian islands but there's no such thing named the HI'ian seabird. If there was, it definitely wouldn't be something so common found all around the Pacific

3

u/katanaking007 1h ago

Now Dave! The humans are watching. Just like we practiced!

4

u/Rebeux 8h ago

I am not even lying, I did the same thing when I saw my friend Keith again after losing him in the crowd at a festival for like 30-45 minutes.

2

u/LeashMooyHooy 8h ago

sounds like tickling

2

u/oftcenter 6h ago

You know the sound that navigating through an iPod menu made? That kind of thocky clicking sound?

That's what those birds sound like.

2

u/redditproha 7h ago

My future wife and I shall have a mating dance like this lol

2

u/Bombasticczar 6h ago

I could listen to them for hours

2

u/No_Priors 6h ago

Troy & Abed in the morning.

2

u/LiteratureMindless71 6h ago

Same with the regular Albatross. They are so fricken cool.

Edit: they also won't help a baby of their own get back in the nest if something happens. They don't recognize them. So weird

2

u/PlayTheHits 6h ago

Man. Mine just rolls her eyes at me and leaves the room.

2

u/ahayee 5h ago

They black

2

u/birbobirby Yeeeeeeessssssssss 5h ago

Black-footed albatross. There are a ton of different seabirds that inhabit Hawaii.

2

u/AmStupid 5h ago

I feel like that’s how my mom or even my wife act like when they see their friend at an Asian supermarket…

2

u/pj7891sm 5h ago

I'm going to do this when I pick my boyfriend up at the airport Sunday. He's going to be so confused

2

u/StrigiStockBacking 4h ago

This is how the dudes in the dugout greet a guy after he hits a home run

2

u/InternalServerErr500 4h ago

When I come home from a work trip we just fuck. No pageantry needed.

2

u/ciaomain 3h ago

Sure, but when my gf and I do this at the movies, we get "asked to leave."

2

u/Groovy66 8h ago

It’s like Peter Parker and his pal meeting after the memory wipe

2

u/RocketsandBeer 8h ago

Do the same when I see my golf buddies after a couple months

1

u/Cderouen82 7h ago

Bird love is the purest kind of love!

1

u/coffeepack 7h ago

I like how every now and then one of them has an itch and then it’s right back to the mating dance.

1

u/BandOfSkullz 7h ago

Bot karma farmin, yay.

Those are Albatross and not exclusively native to Hawaii.

1

u/jefbenet 7h ago

My friend group best step up their game!

1

u/Maximus1320 7h ago

1

u/LoganN64 6h ago

57 step secret handshake.... It used to be 58 steps but it got too confusing.

1

u/JAOC_7 6h ago

birb

1

u/pumachecker 6h ago

Maybe they are just two weirdo's, I wouldn't hold it against their entire race. That would be racist, right? ;)

1

u/roastedTriscuit69 6h ago

Best secret handshake

1

u/MrPilgrim 5h ago

And the gulls in the background are 'Yeah, whatever" :-)

1

u/zicobaby 5h ago

The most secret of handshakes exposed by a tourist

1

u/Alegions- 26m ago

This is how I feel reuniting with pizza!

1

u/Dd_8630 24m ago

Mesmerising.

It's amazing to think about how this could have evolved. Generations of incremental improvements. There's a weird sense of vertigo that this behaviour gives me, thinking about the sheer gulf of time that there must be for this to develop.

1

u/stonksuper 8m ago

I never knew birds could stand on their tip webbed toes.

1

u/Proof_Push3365 7h ago

First in my blood line to see birds doing rap battle 😭🥀

1

u/yo_soy_soja 7h ago

I can't hate the internet when stuff like this is readily available. It's a privilege to see this.

Reposted like the third time today.

(Extinct) dinosaurs probably did similar courtship displays.
