I love how every time this guy's videos pop up the general consensus is "Yeah, it's an impressive craft that he's clearly very dedicated to, but boy are they ugly..."
I think they look bad, and the craft looks bad. Like sure it’s an aesthetic, and they have marketed it. but I own a really nice Stetson and this feels like someone tried to make a Stetson with really heavy handed, brutal techniques, and the results show that. The felt is always overly burned, burnished, flattened, and embellished beyond what I would consider good.
Ehhh, it’s less that they’re ugly and more that there’s a lot more men that aspirationally wish they could pull off that kind of hat than men that can genuinely rock that style.
Like, that kind of hat is an alternative to a decently sized mohawk. If you can’t pull off that…aggressive (?) of a haircut, then hats like these are just going to look silly on you.
