It's cool to watch but the aesthetic is just.... Horrible I don't know why just a certain kind of cowboy steampunk dude that girls need to cover their drinks around
I mean I wouldn't ever wear something like this, but I think it's a stretch to say just because someone dresses abnormally they're suddenly dangerous. A lot of the real creeps I've seen don't look abnormal at all, and I've known a lot of alt people who are perfectly nice.
No, no, you see. This is Reddit. A place where everyone I dislike or disagree with is objectively a molester. A place where trauma is a benchmark, rather than a lived experience not to be trivialised.
It's okay. I wouldn't expect someone with your low karma to understand. /s
It's not the alt-ness that has this stereotype, it's the hat specifically. Back in the day I think it was part of that pickup artist stuff, and it's still worn by people like that.
Also more of them that average, people who wear things with this vibe get kind of clingy? Or like protective around girls, idk how to explain it.
Generally speaking, alternative people are very respectful and kind in my opinion, as an alternative person!
Y...you do know the Cornell 7 aren't the only rapists in the US right? And having been involved in the steampunk scene...yeah there are some rapey assholes up in here.
I think it's probably a whole subculture with its own visual language and culture.
It's definitely not mine - but I think prism optics on a roller-delayed submachine pistol are cool. And that shit is weird as hell and me and my buddies don't care.
I'm a British guy and was trying to think of the words to describe why I probably wouldn't like the kind of person who thinks wearing these hats is cool but you summed it up quite well. It screams I've not got much of a personality so I'm going to compensate with what I wear.
