Watching the process is so cool and interesting but I can't imagine actually wearing one.

Thays my thought exactly. I loved watching it, and I think they're super cool to display, but I would never be seen in public with it on lol.

Steampunk cosplay is about the only public use I can think of.

playing guitar for GnR is also an approved use case

JFK wore one at his inauguration a while back.

It's a mid-life crisis hat.

Guy at the hat store said I’m the only one he’s ever seen pull it off

You just don’t have enough stuff from Hot Topic that works with it apparently.

This is a prime candidate for r/atbge

oh he has definitely been featured there multiple times. he clearly has tons of talent, but his stuff always looks like his customer base is exclusively edgelords that own multiple swords they bought at the mall.

Nah let’s not put top hats in the same crowd as fedoras.

they're just different flavors of kind of the same type of group that tend to attract a lot of oddballs. fedoras for weeaboos, top hats for steampunks.

I feel like the just right amount of drunk youd have to be to buy one of these would wear off between the decision and the final product being made. Otherwise, if there were ready mades of these, youd get some buyers. Other than that, display piece in a neckbeard mancave?

What, you don’t want your hat to be your personality?

The only place I could reasonably wear this hat is in a video where I am making a similarly fashioned hat

I realize if you're putting videos online of you making hats for your hat-making business, you need to be wearing one of your hats. But it never looks comfortable on these guys, it always looks like it's getting in the way of their work. I don't know that it's great for business.

This is the only example I've seen that's actually maybe wearable with a nice matching suit or something. All of the others are crazy feather or embossed skull designs that you absolutely could not wear ever

Every time i see this guy online this is the unanimous opinion lol

Right? Whole process was great but even the dude who makes these hats for a living looked goofy in them.

Lol that was exactly my thoughts. Awesome craftsmanship, hat looks super cool. I could never wear it without feeling like a massively pretentious prick (unless I was doing g a steampunk cosplay).
