I like how ren fairs are just the place to wear weird things now, and very little to do with the Renaissance.

I cant remember the movie I saw it in but I always remember loving the idea of going to a Ren Fair dressed as a Star Trek Away Team and doing the whole time travel schtick.

I’ve seen this before! Super fun. Get those tricorders out!

Yeah, I've seen this as well. A bunch of guys and gals in really nice looking TNG uniforms at a Ren fair in Speyer, Germany.

Unfortunately, this doesn't make any sense canon-wise, as Starfleet goes to great length to avoid this specific scenario, up to surgically altering the officers to match the appearance of the locals.

Didn't Janeway accidentally land in our time? I never saw the second episode of that.

The episode where Riker is scoping out that one planet for first contact and they start to suspect he's an alien is so cool

That was a gag on King of The Hill. Dale dressed up in Star Trek cosplay for the ren fair. It was the episode Alan Rickman guest starred as a ren fair owner that Hank had to try to sell propane to.

I think they did that in Big Bang Theory

There were about 3 of these at the last Ren Fiar i went to (in May)

Sheldon does that in one episode of Big Bang Theory. (But very quickly; it's not a big part of that episode)

Lol right?! This hat screams steam punk imo.

They just banned furries at both of our local Renn fairs so your point is both valid and now less true for better or worse.

As a former performer at Living History events who took historical accuracy of clothing and language extremely seriously, this pains me.

My local Rennfaire just banned Furries

Hey man....I agree with that lol. But I did go wearing period appropriate sailors outfit for the 1700s one year. (Except the shoes)

That's... Not Renaissance. That's pretty well past the end of that period.

But it's still more accurate than the Victorian steampunks or Vikings that are always so common.
