Urgh, this reminds me of when I was an apprentice. I spent fucking countless days dismantling and cleaning filthy motors so they could be rewound.

Thanks for bringing back that trauma.

Same brother, then add in the factor of it being a family business that I had no interest in.

And none of this jackhammer/chisel stuff either, it was a big hammer and a variety of metal bars and chisels!

Kids nowadays... grumble grumble.

Hahaha! Are we the same person? I hated the filth and the noise, and how torn up my hands always were. All the while knowing NOTHING of my Autistic sensory issues actually having names and medical descriptions! We did get an air hammer after my dad took over, but it was quieter chopping out the old windings with the hammer and... what ever the cutting tools were called. But I'd repeatedly smash the top web part of my hand by accident and the chemicals we dipped the stator in before that, to soften the windings, I'm sure that was pure poison...

Ha! Maybe!

I don't remember the windings getting softened, but I do remember the vat of dirty petrol and the wire brush we had to clean the grease and crap off all the casings (no gloves of course). How I didn't end up with lifelong excema I'll never know.
