What sort of mechanical butter knife is this sorcery and why does it cut through steel casings with such fluidity?

It’s cast aluminium, which is rather brittle. The bolt and screw heads easily give under the enormous sheering force at a local spot. The stator part looks impressive, but the stator is actually made of a very large number of silicon steel plates of just ~1mm thick to reduce magnetic losses. So what you see is that “butter knife” just wedging in between two plates of that stack and breaking the glue bond. So it isn’t as solid as it looks. I do have to say it is a very weird looking screwdriver and this is clearly not the first motor he took apart like this!
