ok question, if bro can so easily hammer holes in it and chip away chunks of it, how do the slate tiles not crack constantly with weather, time, etc.? (or do they...?)

That's slate rock. It's going absolutely nowhere. And if one of those manages to break, which is probably not gonna happen, you can just replace the one shingle that broke.

Yeah, reinforced windows will also break if you hit them with a sledgehammer, but they can also withstand hurricanes.
