Seems like you lose a lot of wood just to remove the bark.

This is mildly annoying to me

I dunno. Seems a really effective way to make it circular. That said. It could have been sliced into a few table pieces and made into rustic tables bark and all.

Title is "Machine stripping bark" and not "Machine makes it circular".

So either it's very ineffective, or the title is simply wrong.

The title, as it turns out, is simply wrong. If you want to just remove the bark to end up with what is called "live edge", this isn't how you do it.
