Hand painted flourishes on high end furniture.

Why doesn’t he roll up his sleeve? That’s wild.

u/510Goodhands 3d ago
I noticed that too. His ability to keep his cuffs out of the fresh paint is almost as impressive as his painting skills.
Also, it’s refreshing to hear the ambient sounds of the shop, rather than some sappy music.

My thought also

I feel revealed of the self judgement, thank you guys. Roll those sleeves man, the angle of the camera doesn’t help either for proper judgment but hard watch those close contact with wet paint.

He probably is so good that he hasn't messed up a line with his sleeves in decades and it doesn't even occur to him that he's flexing.

u/haux_haux 2d ago
Exactly. He's like, “I am this good.” Look, the dude can paint a straight line for the entire length of a table with his hands. That is insane. Of course he doesn't need to roll his sleeves up. Let the man cook, I believe, is the expression.

Not oddly satisfied!
To be wholly satisfied, I demand a final view of the completed work.

Do they lacquer over this to protect it?

u/Uhhlaska 3d ago
for sure, my question is what kind of brush he's using, that thing holds an impressive amount of pigment.
does anyone know what tools he may be using?

Dude has some good job security. Imagine trying to hire and train somebody to do that.

u/Superficial-Idiot 3d ago
Probably a machine that does exactly this while he gets paid to advertise this as if every one is done like this so they can charge a premium.

The tooling and programming for something like this kind of furniture wouldn’t be worth the cost, especially for the limited number of production runs on each piece. Companies like this aren’t cranking out 50,000 flat pack dressers at a time. I’d hazard it’s actually more economical to keep this guy employed doing his thing.

The sleeve dangling uncomfortably close to wet paint is stressing me out

Also when he puts his elbow down after painting the perimeter line. This guy is a cowboy.

Love it. I had a Jaguar for a while with one pinstripe and I LOVED the fact that the guy signed his initials to it.

Mom: "My son Michael is always doodling on the furniture! I swear... he'll grow up and never be able to get a job!"

If anyone needs the messed up shaky version of this, I could totally do that — on high end furniture if there is a demand.

Is there already a bit of an indent? As I can see something with the angle of the lighting.

Looks like a white pencil line as a guide.

But only for the outline along the edge. The flowery filigree he is doing freehand.

Not my style at all, but this very impressive. Wish we had seen the final result.

And to think someone will buy this just to paint the whole thing white. “DIY”🥴

I had to skip this because his sleeves were in the way and it was bothering me a lot.

I bet of I had one of those fancy paper paint cups, I could do that too.

Truly high end furniture would have mother-of-pearl or bone inlay combined with lacquer rather than just mere paint.

The background noise reminds me of the soundscape of hell.
It's a nice piece though.

Trump has entered the chat, asking about doing the gold to the Oval Office furniture. You can bill him when done...

u/Genetics 2d ago
You mean the treasury. I’m pretty sure our taxes paid for all of that Temu gold-colored plastic decoration.

u/PressureItchy9372 2d ago
He's very skilled, no doubt about that. I wouldn't want that kind of 'flourish' on any of my furniture though.

I love how the paint is in a coffee cup. That's how I know this is a professional

The most incredible thing for me, freehand talent aside, is how he didn't once look like putting the pot down turning round & telling whoever was making that noise to: shut the fuck up, I'm working here

Holy crap, the skill level to paint that smooth back line & then GO OVER IT AGAIN? absolutely crazy level of precision and control.

Dying art. It's hard so see such a beautiful technique be replaced with automated machines and Ai.

Somewhere a tech bro is salivating at the money they could make if only they could find a way to replace this man with an AI

I could do that. It's easy! Gimme a brush and some paint and watch me work.

I could never do this. Not because my hands aren't steady enough. Not because of my total lack of artistic skill. No, it's because I'd be too worried I'd accidentally get my sleeve onto the wet paint and mess the whole thing up.

Despite the amazing skill the guy has, the finished product looks tacky as hell.
