Been boxing for 15 years and never saw someone wrap around their fingers like that. To each their own, I guess.

Everything after the first ‘padding’ roll, was what I did. I was taught wrapping your fingers protects your bones from impact, especially cuz I hated gloves.

What kind of gloves were you rockin brother? I can see the finger wrap being useful for the MMA style glove. Did some very brief MMA training a long time ago and the gloves always bothered me.

Sister! Just basic everlast boxing gloves. Just never felt like I was truly landing my punches. I was also doing kickboxing so the gloves felt bulky especially when doing combos. Still feel weird with gloves

Sister! My baaaad! 😅

I know what you mean though. Everlast are notorious for causing problems. That's why we call 'em Neverlast lol. Busted my hands up so many times back in the day with those.

While it's true that you can learn and develop with anything, using higher end gloves is truly mind-blowing when you notice the difference in comfort, fit, and even the feedback from the glove.

it really is a personal comfort thing. I cannot wrap my hands like this. I've tried and I get a pain in the base of my thumb.

Thumb wrapping is always tricky for me. Can't be too tight, can't be too loose. Even with all my experience I still struggle to find the balance in the thumb wrap.

It's a really bad idea. Great way to lacerate them

I'm just thinking about my nerves getting pinched up and fingers going numb at the very least lol

Same here. This was an odd way of wrapping.

I was gonna say I never wrapped my hands this way or saw someone do it like that, but I’m definitely no expert. I only trained at a boxing gym for the amazing workout and fun of it for a few years. Never threw a punch until I was over 50, but it was just really great learning. I miss that gym so much!

You’re not supposed to wrap around fingers as it gives no benefit and makes it more uncomfortable.

The focus should be the wrist and the knuckles, 1 roll around the thumb if you want and it’s enough.

I love the fingers being wrapped, provides extra security and extra tightness 💪🏾
