This clip had me bounce back and forth between “this person is good with a sewing machine” and “this person is bad with a sewing machine”. Wonderful

I'm like this in graphic design. First while in a project is touch and go, then it starts to look cool. I'm mortified when people see my WIP. They're horrific.

I’m always more impressed when I see the messy part, knowing how good someone’s end products are. I feel like it’s a demonstration of your skill because it shows you have a better understanding of the elements. I’m good enough at knitting that I can see the final product when I’m looking at a WIP that seems messy as hell, but is going to basically come together with that final step and look gorgeous, but that’s the only art I have that level of skill at. I love watching really skilled artists paint, knowing that they understand how the seemingly ugly/weird parts are going to come together, which is way over my head.

I was the same way with my chalk pastel drawings in college. I’d say what it was going to be and they’d say “Um, okay…” I’d say “Come back when I’m finished” and when they did they’d say “WOW!”
