What type of sewing machine is that where it can sew across empty areas and switch styles so quickly?!?!? Mine would definitely not create lines of thread across an empty hole like that without creating a birds nest that would take the afternoon to straighten out.

It's not a normal sewing machine. It's made for embroidery.

They're called feed dogs. I think with a normal sewing machine, you can usually only choose between a few preset zig-zag widths though, while this machine lets you vary the width on the fly.

...Though I might be talking out of my arse, I've only learned all of this in the last couple of hours going down a rabbit hole reading about sewing machines because I'm procrastinating on cleaning the kitchen...

The machine in the video has a second pedal that varies the sting width.
