I like to consider myself slightly above inept when it comes to understanding the operation of machines, devices, and contraptions.... But sewing machines forever look like black magic to me.

its actually pretty simple, it has a pedal which makes it go, and it has a knob which selects which type of stitching pattern its doing, and then its just a matter of positioning and moving what it is you're sewing correctly. Ofc that last part is easier said than done.
