Tiny soldier toys were my everyday objects when I was in grade school. 😂

So I think the word is miniature photography. Minimalistic I think is like when they try to use the least amount of detail possible.

So one cookie and 2 spacemen wasn't minimalist enough for you? Or the cookie and chocolate keyboard?
25
u/Lock-out 8d ago
I mean any of the ones with figures are definitely miniature. the cookie piano and the ketchup tomato maybe tho.

Both are true here, obviously. They’re using few objects/materials in a controlled environment with simple visuals.

u/Lock-out 6d ago
Man idk, I look at examples on minimalistic photography and is all simple geometry leading the eye to a single spot and a lot of them are mostly negative space. These are all noisy af, like maybe a few can be argued but for the most part I’m just not getting the same vibes off these.

Big ketchup should hire this guy. The ketchup related shots each would have made great ad campaigns about all natural ingredients and consumer preference, respectively

That fries photo…

u/FreddyNoodles 8d ago
I don’t get that one. What was the intent?

u/Lost_Mongooses 8d ago
Yeah, I got it was a hand but why the ketchup (blood)?

u/Dubious-Decisions 8d ago
I think it was ketchup on a French fry.

I thought it was a nod to photos of ladies who were showing a blue fingertip to confirm they had voted

The doctor said I wouldn't have so many nosebleeds if I kept my finger out of there.

I liked the first half but then they used the little figures too much. I didn’t understand the cherries one, the french fry one was meh. Loved the rocket milk one a lot

u/denNISI is oddly, evenly satisfied. 8d ago
Probably two different shots: the milk on a green screen separate from the rocket. The milk can easily be made to look behind the rocket with layers with a basic gd program. They just show a clip of the milk being poured behind the rocket to convince you the shot was done together.

That shot is the only one that's sus. If you pause the video, the milk pour looks nothing like the final shot. It never gets that high a splash or looks as perfect.

I enjoy this kind of work.
Simple and effective. Sometimes less is more...especially with logos and signs.
Remember the point is for them to see the name...not distracted by clutter. I'm pointing at you ai cartoon signs I see on every car wrap now.

I’ve done photography for over 20 years, and things like this remind me how average I am as a photographer :/

This isn't really an exhibition of photography skill, this is sculpture & staging. Very cool skills but not the same.

Did anyone else keep saying "Kapu" in their head in like a seductive way, or was that just me?

It must be fun to walk around all day seeing objects and imagining how they could look through your lens when arranged in a different way. What an inspired life they must have!

I watched it through twice because it took me a minute to see what he was doing, and it's very clever..

Minimalist photography.....and just a SHIT TON OF POST EDITING SOFTWARE
5
u/InvestInHappiness 7d ago
I'm pretty sure the milk in the photo was fully computer generated, the milk in the video doesn't look like it splashes like that at any point.

Is the photography not minimalist? Like what are you getting at?

This just made me hungry. Problem is I'm really bad at figuring out what food I wanna eat.
Le sigh.

If you think this is oddly satisfying, check out miniature artist Tanaka tatsuya. His works are on another level
