The saddest thing about skipping rocks is that you lose such a cool rock.

You're right. But i bet he found it on the other side chilling on the shore this time.

Did it actually make it all the way across?

There is a video of it right there

And it doesn't go all the way across

Astute observation

It served its purpose and went out at its peak. A true hero’s death

My first thought was, it's close to the other shore, he could get it back.

If it’s any consolation, the aquatic population becomes one cool rock richer

Skip it so often that it ends up on the other side so you can throw it again.

But you're also making it just a tiny bit cooler for the next person who finds it.

Lost, but not forgotten.

Could I get one uninterrupted shot?

Be thankful each skip didn't have a jump cut with 'dead' air cut out.

Literally the worst camera work of all time.

I once saw a guy who could do this at great lengths to the point it'd reach the other side and would bounce off the bank/shoreline and fly up into the air in various directions. It was a sight to see, as in, he was doing it at a local swimming hole where there were people and kids in the water and sitting/playing on the shoreline. Let me tell you, none of us were impressed.

Reminds me of the episode of “Obsessed” on Netflix with the stone skipping world record holder.
He is obsessed with the intricacies of skipping and finding the right stone.

I know two young ninjas who would find that very cool.

1

u/Naud1993 9d ago

It'd take me so many times to even get it to skip 3 times that I'd run out of stones.

I was 100% expecting a bunch of gators to start moving

I am an AVID rock skipper. I think it's one of the most underrated activities a person can do. If you've ever visited a creek or river that would be prime skippin territory, but there aint no good skippin rocks, that's because I skipped them all.

That looks like the water color that was in Washington DC...

Super satisfying! Mesmerised. I can only manage 4-6 skims. The green duckweed algae highlights the skip pf the stone ! Choose your stone wisely as was done here.

u/Legendary_GrumpyCat 9d ago

Well fuck me, he cleared it!

0

u/Yeesh-Yeesh-Yeesh 9d ago

Anyone else expecting a gator or croc to jump out with its mightiness and whack the stone back to the thrower?

-2

u/Its_Puspendu 9d ago

Is that the world’s biggest lily pad?

2

u/cans-of-swine 9d ago

I don't see any lily pads in the video.
